Description Hotfix(4/30/2017): A browser incompatible setting was enabled, I've turned it off, multiplayer works properly again.
Update 2.0.5! Some new/changed abilities. Various shop changes. 1 new event. Performance tweaks. Multiplayer tweaks. Other changes.

This is loosely based on the Nintendo game "Mario Bros".

Press LEFT/RIGHT to move.
Press UP to jump(hold for extra height).
Press DOWN to activate your character's ability.
Press ENTER to open a menu in-game(also pauses game in single player).
Press SPACE to interact with a background object(eg; throw a table).

Press M to toggle mute.
Press - = to adjust sound effect volume.
Press [ ] to adjust music volume.

This game uses peer to peer networking to do multiplayer.

Touhou Project and it's characters are owned by ZUN.
Create.swf (the graphic assets) belongs to KirbyM(nearly all of the art is theirs, I only made a couple edits, and some misc things).
Palanquin ship & Touhouvania alternate costume graphics are by Feraligono .
The unnamed PC98 Touhou character graphics are by DeityDiz93 .

The old soundtrack had a few issues the largest of which is that i forgot to set my recorder to stereo. :/
If rerendering/reloop all the songs was a bit easier i would probably at least revert the percussion instruments back to the genesis ones.(the smb3 theme i switched to genesis ones at least).
maybe i will take another look at the ost, but doing so always eats up a lot of time i could be spending working on the game itself.

No, in fact just like in the original if you take too much time and miss too many enemies(the original may have just been a timer though), the difficulty will ramp up until you beat the level.

Yes it is, if it seems a bit violent though that's mostly how the game is perceived, I'll mention the original again in how it had a kicking animation when the enemies are knocked off stage.
(that would be a lot of custom props to achieve that visual.)
Though if you're playing as Rumia then its clearly violent as described by her ability description. XD
My own opinion is that they are simply pushed/knocked off stage(but everyone is free to see it as violent they'd like lol).

...actually i can't think of many touhou games fan or official that doesn't involve some level of "destroy everything you come across" if not covering the entire screen in bullets XD.

This game is incredibly addicting, I love it. +q+
Though, I must ask, is it possible to add VIVIT into the game? Seeing as she is in Walfas, I'd thought I'd ask.
Also, I feel like it'd be really cool if you could make your own little character in the game.

I've currently been keeping the list to canon touhou characters(minor exceptions for alternate costumes though), who knows though, if I want to add more characters later i can.
It would be cool to be able to make your own character but due to limitations of hosting on deviantart and level of complexity and effort involved it would not be easy,
this was actually one of the originally planned features i had from the very beginning, maybe i'll look into if there's ways i can embed create.swf into the game itself.

Typically if you want to play multiplayer with people you need to invite them.
Having a multiplayer game stay populated most hours of a day takes many regular players who all prefer the online mode.
You can play with people randomly online, its just not reliable(room1 is always your best bet of course).

i had originally had it slippery so being able to whip around especially in mid-air wouldn't be possible forcing players to play more carefully, i'm planning to make a number of changes including the movement in the next update.

wow that's crazy, I hope the difficulty system doesn't need tweaking...i'd have to really step up my game and spend a bunch of time on it to test it properly.
yeah i had a lot of cirno events for some reason as well, it's probably just the RNG being silly.

Considering the difficulty curve of easy (1-30), normal (31-60), hard (61-90), and lunatic (91-120), it seems very fitting.

ah thanks for catching that, it looks like kurumi isn't even in the game either.
I know i rush a bit when i add a bunch of characters, and that's probably how that happened.
Version 1.5.1 will fix her name and add kurumi proper.

The new stuff is nice, since it adds a whole new level of challenge. However, I've come across some possible unintended behavior, mostly with the new enemies. Yin-yang orbs are considered mandatory-to-kill enemies, yet they disappear once they've reached the bottom. So, if you have a yin-yang orb on screen and you kill what would've been the last enemy, the yin-yang orb will turn red signalling it's the final enemy. Once it reaches the bottom of the screen, however, it disappears and the next round begins. Interestingly, I had a Nazrin spawn in this type of scenario, and once I killed the yin-yang orb, Nazrin became the final enemy.

As a side-note, it'd be nice if there was a way to transfer our progress between versions. It's really annoying to lose all my progress each time you update. Is it possible to import our previous progress into newer versions, or are the saves simply incompatible with eachother?

the saves are compatible however DA picks a random server to host files on so each time i update, the save file no longer is associated with the correct server the only way to prevent this is to run from your desktop or for me to host elsewhere, but hosting elsewhere has the problem that alot of people cant be bothered to click a link meaning less people would get exposed to the actual game.

you can look at the create.swf save file instructions to find the reimubros data the folders are called orig(randomnumbers here).deviantart.net and you'll need to copy the file to the current server(1.4.0 is currently orig06) you'll need to compare last modified dates to see which was the last save you used though :/ (i cant recall what orig# 1.3.1 was)

i wish it was simpler but flash security policies prevents me from making universal saves...
(i actually found a way to around this but DA has a sandbox on the flash player here and shut down that option too...)

i'm not sure why the yinyang has that issue, but as for nazrin i needed her to be set like a normal enemy so the player can interact with her normally.
i probly need to just make a "needtokill" flag instead, it would likely fix everything.

Upon further observation, it appears that when the yin-yang orbs reach the bottom of the screen, they act as though they were an enemy who got killed. The game blips and a point icon is spawned at the top of the map.

originally i had planned to add custom DNAs.
drawwalfas.js(html walfas stuff) would not work due to too complicated workarounds as well as security not allowing it.
and embedding create.swf itself right into the game would need to be with kirbyM and thefre's permission so the custom dna is probably not going to happen.

Whoops, lost track of time playing this.

Anyway on a Version 1.1 game I got:

Score = 188200
Final Level Reached = 27
Lives Leftover = 11.

Wish I could have gone until I got all of the unlockables, or til I died, but I had to stop at some point, no?Β This is quite the charming little game still. Props to you RSG for a job well done!
