Description Hotfix(4/30/2017): A browser incompatible setting was enabled, I've turned it off, multiplayer works properly again.
Update 2.0.5! Some new/changed abilities. Various shop changes. 1 new event. Performance tweaks. Multiplayer tweaks. Other changes.

This is loosely based on the Nintendo game "Mario Bros".

Press LEFT/RIGHT to move.
Press UP to jump(hold for extra height).
Press DOWN to activate your character's ability.
Press ENTER to open a menu in-game(also pauses game in single player).
Press SPACE to interact with a background object(eg; throw a table).

Press M to toggle mute.
Press - = to adjust sound effect volume.
Press [ ] to adjust music volume.

Click the download button to get a larger game window.

This game uses peer to peer networking to do multiplayer.

Touhou Project and it's characters are owned by ZUN.
Create.swf (the graphic assets) belongs to KirbyM(nearly all of the art is theirs, I only made a couple edits, and some misc things).
Palanquin ship & Touhouvania alternate costume graphics are by Feraligono .
The unnamed PC98 Touhou character graphics are by DeityDiz93 .

pretty good i usually stop myself from playing too far, i have to work on the game as well as playing it lol.

game is infinite, backgrounds are for changing up scenery, there is a little bit of differences in the beginning.

that already exists they even remade it into a smash bros type game and an ice climbers game.
cirno smash climbers is the smash bros, i forget what the ice climbers game was called.

currently there's no way to return to character select screen so for now you have to refresh the page and the characters will be unlocked, the game saves your progress as soon as you defeat the character(i'd at least wait til the 1up spawns to be sure)

When you click on "Play Alone", you'll have a character select screen. There, you can choose any character besides Reimu or Marisa

This is great. I really liked that you could unlock other characters instead of playing only with Reimu or Marisa. It's very addictive, too.

The controls are kind of slippery in comparison to the original, but the game is accurate enough to be incredibly fun to play. The only real inaccuracy is the way the Mystia enemy moves. In the original, they always jumped the same distance, and as they got stronger, they simply decreased the time between each jump.

I got 26900 on my first try.

originally mystia did have a set distance determined once spawned, but i figured,
1:if jumps were always small it could hold up some gameplay time. (i was trying to speed up gameplay to keep things interesting)
2:Mystia becomes more troublesome if you cant predict how far out she might go.(some people might not be happy with this decision)

and as for inaccuracy the icicles that rain down mechanic were completely replaced by ufos.(ufos serve the same purpose just how they do it suits touhou better).

A good recreation of Mario Bros using Walfas art.  It'd be better if there were more music and an end goal, but I did like the enemy variety, and background change every 5 levels.  Keep improving, and keep up the good work.

yeah i would like to add more music currently i've been looking over some assets i still have but im not sure what im going to do about that quite yet.
but i'll keep looking through my music whether i add more mario or some touhou music, im afraid of adding touhou music though as i'll likely bloat the games filesize massively :/

as for end goal programming in some sort of end boss in a peer to peer situation sounds like it could be frustrating to test and fix issues it'd very likely have.

mostly my laziness,(i would probly need to make some sort of ice dust animation or ice explosion when she dies)
She is actually an obstacle like chen, not a regular enemy required to beat a level.

I liked it. The controls were easy to learn, the game wasn't too hard for, the music is nice and, last but not least, this is the first "real" game made entirely out of Walfas visuals, which I've been wanting to see for a while. (I'm not counting Create.swf's 'Gap Pong' because I do want to) All around, I had fun and, assuming you plan on doing more things like this, I look forward to trying out whatever games you may make in the future.

Blue tinted enemies are playable characters, defeating them unlocks them if they are flashing blue it means you haven't unlocked them yet.
defeating these characters also causes 1UPs to spawn.

this game was built in openfl, it can build programs across multiple platforms, i decided to try using it, and it had swf build support.
