Thanks for checking back to my old stuff! This fanfic was a labor of love, I still can't believe I drew that stuff. Sunstreaker's gun arm, yeah, anybody who owned the toy used to wish he'd do that in the cartoon, but never did, eh?

Thanks so much for the compliment on the black and white. I think when I started realizing that Japan has a whole industry based on black and white, I started being able to think "screw Marvel and DC and Image with all their color, who needs color!" hehe

And it's such a relief that I somehow managed to create something worthwhile in black and white...your comments really make me feel like I nailed the bullseye. Thanks!

You know, that's interesting. I read a book by Monty Roberts (a guy who works with horses), and he spent years in the wild observing mustangs. He's naturally colorblind, and he says that he thinks his black-and-white view allows him to see detail that color often masks. He once tried on a pair of glasses that mimic color for colorblind people, and he said it was horrible, because all the colors distracted him from the fine details he was able to notice with just black and white.

So maybe that's part of the appeal with your black and white approach. Maybe, because we're not distracted by color, we're seeing not what the colors tell us should be there, but what actually is there. I mean, if a vaguely round shape was colored red, I would immediately think 'apple'. But if that same shape was gray scale, I would have to actually look at it and process it -- actually see it. I don't know if that makes sense, but I think there's an element of truth to it.

In any case, you draw some compelling stuff, so keep up the good work! (And I'll stop rambling at you...)

Those are some good points about black and white. I remember hearing somebody say that black and white TV doesn't hurt your eyes as much as color TV. I don't know if that is an urban myth but if that were true, I think it says something about...something, ya know??

But yeah, I was never good at color anyway. I still can't do good looking grass. I always get that ugly fake green astroturf kinda look...
