He's a Dutch Budgerigar (budgie), 3.5 years old.

Yeah, thats correct, thats a problem with budgies and parrots, they figure out usually how to open the cage doors, and many of mine learnt techniques, one of them used to lift the water container high enough so that the door jammed open

Now I place 2 plastic pegs on the doors and not wooden ones because they gnaw them over a few days!

But despite that, I give the little furries some chill time to be out of the cage in the room

Thanks, and yes, their claws can be slightly needle like depending on where they walk, they will hurt if they walk on ur bare shoulders but on fingers they are fine because the birds never really dig them into the human flesh unless they are frightened... FRom my experience, birds like parrots and budgies can somehow manouver their claws so as to not harm the human carrying them, falcons would have too but their talons are naturally too sharp for them to control..
