hey, from steps 2-3 in the airbrush tutorial, how did you jump from that rough sketch to a lineless final image? Do you delete the lineart, or do you paint over it?

I have a quick question if you are still answering questions. What is your opacity and flow for all your brushes?
Amazing work by the way, and thanks for the tutorials!

good tutorial, another useful shortcut key is Shift{ or Shift} when using the brush tool in PS it changes the brush from soft to hard and anything in between!

Wait do you put the base colors on top of the sketch or below it? And if so is it on normal or multiply?

CaptainZreb In reply to dragonfire133 [2010-03-22 18:29:27 +0000 UTC]
the lineart layer is set to multiply on top of the color layers, which are set to normal.
you can actually use pencil drawings for lines too if you use this method, since multiply makes light values transparent.

Great tutorial, but... what do you mean when you say "block colors"?

I faved this a while back but finally had a chance to read it. One of the best I've seen so far with ACTUAL DESCRIPTIONS in brush opacity, pressure, and basic techniques to using the specific brushes.
Do you know how rare you see that?!
I've been playing around and getting the similar jist of what you're doing, but had I seen this a year ago, I would be further in the game than I am now.
So a big thank you for helping artists everywhere who are having a hard time mastering digital painting without real help!

Hey sandara! I'm a huge fan, and this tutorial has helped me greatly with coloring. But I have some questions on your shadows/highlights - do you use the same color as the base tones (except on the multiply layer) for the shadows? and what do you do for the highlights?

I don't exactly understand just one thing (as far as I've read) but how do you blend the colors? I'm kind of new in the world of photo shop, so yeah...*trails off*
By the way, I don't know what's wrong with my computer, but the custom brush doesn't appear when I want to put it up in PS.
I work with PS 3

When I try doing what your showing, the colors begin to become all bright and weird looking! xD Then when I try blending, it looks all shiney and clay-ish. I think im blending too much. =0

Thanks for the tutorial!
Although every time I try to draw something using the airbrush, when I do shading, it looks all block-ish and ugly. xD I will just have to try harder!
