Description Some people watching my video were curious as to how I managed to adjust a certain area of my image when the image is painted on many layers.

I do it using ctrl + shift + c.

Thank you so much.  I have been watching so many speedpaints and tutorials to find how other people accomplish this but not one of them explained this move.  Now that I think about it, it might be too obvious for those who are so used to PS to remember to explain the technique.

To avoid overdoing the selection, use the Ctrl Shift C command, then put the pointer over the underbase layers thumbnail (if you have one for the dragons head) and hold Alt + Shift then click. You'll notice your pointer turns into a select icon with a X in it. this means it'll only select the cross section between your over selection and the underbase.

Evolvana In reply to Evolvana [2012-11-02 01:08:14 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes in fact it worked, but it's not the result I hoped for no way to really move all the layers alltogether of one part of the drawing, without copy/pasting over it ?

Morisith In reply to Evolvana [2013-01-05 18:59:51 +0000 UTC]

probably late, but I noticed messing with the layer setting might sometimes give the effect you want. (you know where it says normal in the scroll bar, just click one at the time until you find a good one, and you'll have it memorized for later

Mind. Blown. I already use lasso to duplicate eyes in sketch portraits... and to do symmetrical things. This just. Thank you.

nice hint, thanks
but can't you circumvent the downside by just hiding the backgrund for the operation?
...is this a noob comment?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sandara In reply to deafact [2012-10-05 12:27:21 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you can of course. but in this instance I had painted the background on the same layer as my dragon.
