Description This is for ~desertsprout

It's the method I use for the scales in [link] , and it's based on traditional painting methods so there's no shortcut that I know of. There are two methods of doing scales that I know of, but in the end they both involve detailing those scales one by one so the main difference is whether you work from shade to highlight or the other way around. For drawing the scales use one of those garden hose with the criss-cross patterns on it, while for the head it's just a matter of picking an animal and extending the jaw to make it look more reptillian. For the jaw at different angle I use a stapler as the model.

If only a suggestion of scales is needed then I'll use the technique I use on the head with a bit more contrast.

This was done fairly quickly and roughly, so apologies for the lack of finish.

It's not a set, it's a brush tip shape. Just go to brush setting and find a brush tip shape that's "chalky".
