Hi all.

This is my latest work. It is a actual 3D object, a bit post-pro for better colours etc, but it is just one render, not two renders combined or so. It is modelled and rendered with Blender 2.41 and post-processed with Photoshop. It is based on the litho Up and Down by M.C. Escher. C&C is highly appreciated.

seeing your ava instantly reminded me - the Blender site. Beautiful pic!
I'm yet to really sit down and try to come to grips with the app, but I've seen some stunning results - this being one of them. Congrats on the DD

M.C. Escher is a great artist to sample. I'd love seeing more of his work rendered. Judging from the comments, apparently not a lot of people are aware of his intricate wood cuts and lithos. Perhaps you can lead them to more of his work and have some fun taking it to a different level.

As I scroll the browser viewer up and down, I can't help but instincitvely tilt my head back as if I really were looking up at high vaulted ceilings which turned out to be a floor. However, I think the colors for the sky, palm tree(s) and sand outside is a bit plain and looks like a flat backdrop. Even though I don't see them as a main focus of the model, they don't seem to fit very well with the interior of the tower which is so rich in colors and textures.

Nonethleless, I really like this piece!

How long did it take for you to figure this whole render out? It seems to me like it would take a while just to plan out where the two realities would connect and how.

Is the actual object square and and rendered with a lens type effect, or did you actually model all the curves?
It looks great, whichever, I'm a big fan of Escher and this is definitely a fitting tribute.

oh wow. this reminds me of an Australian painter who tries to draw all that's there, not what is scene - so bends all the dimensions like this - but I can't remember his name. Oh well. Very nice!

This is a wonderful render that is just the right balance of a simple subject with a not-so-simple concept. Yet again, it isn't something completely outrageous or hard to follow, with a crazy flow and convoluted path for the eye to follow. I really like it. Congratulations on the Daily Deviation, my friend.

is the warp modeled? or did you somehow get the effect with the camera? If that's modeled that must have been mind boggling!

incredible work!
