Hi all.

This is my latest work. It is a actual 3D object, a bit post-pro for better colours etc, but it is just one render, not two renders combined or so. It is modelled and rendered with Blender 2.41 and post-processed with Photoshop. It is based on the litho Up and Down by M.C. Escher. C&C is highly appreciated.

Great job! I'm a big fan of Escher's work and the way his way of seeing things. Although its almost Escher's work, I like the new coloured version a lot

I have to be frank; the model and lighting ifself is not a biggie, but the MC Escher-like camera angle is a creative touch. It just won't look right with any standard view.

There is this bit where the pictures looks a tad bit cartoonish because of the texture, but if you did intended to depict the scene this way, I don't have any other constructive criticism left to voice out.

Good job. This one is going into my Fav collection.

That is one awesome model. Congrats on the DD, it definitely deserves the title. MC Escher is awesome, and you pulled off the feel of his work wonderfully. How long did that model take you?

That's really nicely done- I like how even the shadows are consistent in the top and bottom.
Could you show us some different angles, maybe reveal the trick? : D
One crit: I don't have the original on hand but the trees here look kind of cartoony.

this is some very nice 3d work. I've always been a fan of escher's work, and up and down, or high and low, as it has been called too, is my personal favourite. it's nice to see it modelled so well. you did a great job at this. how did you actually go about this? are there certain options in the camera settings that allow such a angle of view?
however, what I miss about this image is some more personal interpretation. it is pretty much the same as escher's piece, but I think it would have been interesteing to give it some heavy textures, a different lighting, perhaps a more dustry feel. also, I'd like to see more sharpness in the render.
anyway, despite those critiques, I really like this one well done, the DD is deserved

Yay I am a HUGE fan of M.C. Escher but have never been able to replicate his work. This is awesome. There is a definite feel of a spanish/mexican hosienda style building with trappings of modern day elements mixed in here. That and the fact the this is really a 3D model make it more than deserving of a DD. Well done in all aspects!

I've always wanted to get an Escher-type output from a raytracer, I tried a version of "Ascending and Descending" in POV-ray. It didn't work so well.

This is a very cool representation of the scene. Great work. How did you match the lighting?

Well, color is one thing M.C. Escher lacked... and you've used it very well here. Translating Escher's stuff can be a maddening endeavor, so you're either mad or just very gifted. (I'd say the latter ) Very fun and interesting! --Faile35
