I've seen many people say that it's not possible to make transparent things in SAI but it is. (~o3o)~
I used to export my files as .psd and make them transparent in Photoshop, but it's much easier this way.
This is how I made my ID and Shimeji transparent. ^^

Many commonly asked questions are answered here.
-Use File>Save As or File>Save. If one doesn't work, then use the other.
-But no matter what...ALWAYS choose the second PNG save option!
-If it doesn't work, then update SAI.
NOTE! I have realized that there are multiple "strains" of SAI. So far, I have noticed 2, but both of these have been able to save transparencies. If this tutorial didn't work for you, you may have gotten some weird "strain."
Otherwise, I really don't know what's wrong. Sorry. ):

Does this also work with scans? I draw traditional a lot of the time, but I often either add transparency or a background digitally ... but since all tutorials show digital drawings (and I can't get it to work with my scans) I was wondering if it even works with you use a scan rather then a full digital drawing?

Well, you'd have to erase anything that you don't want to show up (same with digital drawings).
Otherwise, it will still work!

Err, actually, the option won't appear when I try to save the file as png. Is there an alternate way to making the box appear?

Well, it's come to my attention that there are 2 different versions of SAI, and it's really hard to differentiate them. D:
It may just be that you have that different version. In that case, I wouldn't know how to help, I'm sorry.

I recently was made aware by another person that SAI comes in 2 versions: one with the option screen, and one without. I'm not sure how to differentiate them though. Sorry. D:

I downloaded the update but when I open the programm it sais "1 Trial Day" in the upper right corner, is this just a false alarm or will it really be available for a limited time only?

The thing is, someone sent me the Sai I have been using up untill now through a Winrar file, and as soon as I downloaded and installed the updates it turned my Sai into a trial version which is now counting...
I think once the counter is done I will remove that Sai and try to reΓ―nstall my old version Px

If you see some words along the lines of "x days out of 31" or "Trial Expired" on the top right corner, then you have the trial.
