I've seen many people say that it's not possible to make transparent things in SAI but it is. (~o3o)~
I used to export my files as .psd and make them transparent in Photoshop, but it's much easier this way.
This is how I made my ID and Shimeji transparent. ^^

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION!
Many commonly asked questions are answered here.
-Use File>Save As or File>Save. If one doesn't work, then use the other.
-But no matter what...ALWAYS choose the second PNG save option!
-If it doesn't work, then update SAI.
NOTE! I have realized that there are multiple "strains" of SAI. So far, I have noticed 2, but both of these have been able to save transparencies. If this tutorial didn't work for you, you may have gotten some weird "strain."
Otherwise, I really don't know what's wrong. Sorry. ):

I up my version from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0 but not work... you know that ALL PEOPLE on the web are looking for transparency in SAI ? and you find it... but I don't know how you have this popup xD

I'm not sure if you're using a blank canvas or not, but the PNG save options window will pop up after you press save. (:
It won't work with a blank canvas. x)

Well, the transparent part doesn't show up in SAI, but if you open it on Photoshop or you upload it to Photobucket or a different image hosting site, then you will see the transparency. SAI will always have that white background, but it isn't always there, if that makes any sense. o__o
