I was asked about texture here's a short explanation. Showing how I add texture. Really it'll vary on the effect you wanna get, the colors of your piece, et cetera, but here's an easy version which will work with most drawings.

1.) I pull my scanned texture into my file
2.) I turn it to greyscale. You don't have to do this... but it may alter your colors more if you do not.
3.) I duplicate the layer, because I'm going to use one layer for the darks(multiply) and one for the lights(screen). (you can use just one layer if you want, and you don't have to use multiply or screen... whatever you feel looks best.
4.)I fool around with Levels on both layers. I make the Multiply layer lighter, and I make the Screen layer darker.
5.) I change the fill/opacity setting until I'm happy with the results.... and done.
