Do you try to give a higher value of brightness or/and gamma ?
That often Happen

If it still don't work send me your Apophysis Parameter and i'm gonna check what's wrong

Ok i know what i forgot to add on my tutorial
Just put an higher weight on Xform 2
Something like 20 - 30 and unzoom to a smaller value
And everything is perfect then

Thanks for the tutorial SaTaNiA.
I had similar issues to ~CopaseticDesign, I compared my flame parameters to the posted ones and realized that my weight on the X2 was .5 while the published was 24.5 Also I need to rescale it to fit in the window. I notice the JPeg has 24.5 but it would be nice to state that explicitely in the text. After that all was fine. What gradient are you using? It looks great. When I use any number of the built in ones it doesn't look so hot. Will play more with this. Nothing to post just yet.

it's a self made gradient i may share in my futur gradient pack
Indeed you could still play with the color value by pressing : ALT + CTRL + N
Sometimes it give awesome result
