Description
Date: 8/21/17-8/22/17Artist's notes:
Coronaspineus agathauma (“wondrous crown of thorns”) was a horned goliath from the late Cretaceous of western North America. Its name comes from its spiky head ornamentation which were likely used for display and intraspecific competition. Skin impressions and petrified osteoderms have been found which show that this creatures possessed thick ossified scales some of which would have supported long keratinous spines in life.
Based on the false genus Agathaumus as depicted by Charles R. Knight with inspiration drawn from Styracosaurus, Centrosaurus, Mercuriceratops, and Daddy Topps from The Land Before Time. I wanted to do a ceratopsian with overlapping horns since I haven't seen that yet. Link to challenge: tyrantisterror.tumblr.com/post…

Thanks! I wanted to give it a unique design while still paying homage to a classic work of art.
