Isn't your brain located in your skull? That's probably why I view this more as a guy who's so bored with some meeting or another that he strips naked and tears through his skin and muscles to leave.

Can't tell whether his wife will be more upset by the fact her husband's a skeleton now or that he quit his job.

Yep, if I remember correctly his skeleton was more cultured and classy, and skeletons kinda had their own cultural gatherings.
