Description
Yay! It's another colored picture! I'm still new to color pencils, so please be kind.I now present the world's two most elusive people: Waldo and Carmen Sandiego!
This is based on a scene from a story written by . After reading this very random adventure, which is, itself, based on a well-known joke, I couldn't help myself! I ended up drawing this scene twice before I was happy with it. The first was a little more realistic and serious looking, and I thought that it didn't fit the style of these characters well enough. So, I started this one, purposefully making them more cartoony and stylized. I'm still unsure of whether putting in a background was wise, but I wanted to show them in context with the story.
Carmen's trench coat was so fun to draw! And I made Waldo extra tall. I just envision him as a very tall guy for some reason. Coloring them was also fun, although the pencils were difficult to control.
Anyway, just so you know, they're not ignoring each other. This is just one of those gaps in their conversation.

Is it me or does Waldo's face from this angle look like the "Chief" from the animated series?

I want this to be a canon crossover animated show...
Only the world's elusive man can capture the impossible thief, but the devastating truth is that they are former lovers.Β

Yes, such a crossover would bring me great joy! Β This picture is based on a fanfic written by a friend of mine with that very same concept, except with Miss Frizzle thrown in for a love triangle.

Haha, I believe that's the joke I alluded to in the description! Oddly enough, nobody else has actually said it. Congratulations on being the first!

Well, after digging up my old sketches, I'd have to say that there isn't much difference except for proportions and anatomy.

AARRRG!
I wrote a nice long paragraph explaining why I like this so much...and DA just kinda made it disapear
Ok, lessee if I can remember most of what I wrote...
I really love how you were able to keep the them in their respective styles and still have them look so natural together. And again, two characters I wouldn't have imagined ever being one the same page together and yet...they just seem to fit!
Also, I'm totally diggin' that awesome rock/hill in the background! I mean, it's just beautiful!

Yeah, I know how you feel. DA does that to me all the time, too.
Anyway, these two have been associated with each other for a while, actually. Not officially, of course, but fans have noticed their similar occupations. After drawing these two, I've found that I really like drawing Carmen Sandiego's trenchcoat!
I'm glad somebody likes the rock-hill in back. I'd been to several beaches where, for some reason, there was a drop-off close to the water, like a miniature cliff of sand. It didn't look right, however, so I changed it to a rock hill thing, like the ones near tide pools. Personally, I wasn't sure if that detail fit with the style of the characters.
