Description Well, I decided to put this up to show an example of what I've been doing during all this time of not updating. This was just a demonstration/experiment with stippling for the drawing class. I was mostly doing texture studies to see what was possible with dots. I figured that printers made pictures out of dots all the time, so why can't we, also?

It wasn't meant to be a tutorial, but it could be used as one. I have several basic textures mapped out along with explanations of their structure. It was focusing on textures for reptiles and amphibians (plus a few insects and sticks).

Each of these small chunks of drawings took a lot of time considering their size. The whole thing is still a chaotic mess in progress. I plan to further crowd the paper with more chaotic stuff.

Medium: Microns and copic pen

Well, Mr.Attention-to-detail, you have managed to impress me once again!
The grasshopper looks great! So much detail and yet so smooth at the same time o_o
How much time did this take?

Hey, nice to see you again! Well, the grasshopper took a few hours, probably six at least. I'm not sure, since this is a continuous project.

You have such a light hand, it's really incredible how smooth that grasshopper appears.. I do believe you could challenge an ink jet printer to a copy match and come out with a more detailed image! Maybe we should put that to a test one day...

Actually, it's not so much a light hand as it is a dry pen. I often tell people to buy the pen a year before using it for this sort of thing. A copic pen with a 0.03 mm point works pretty well, also. Thank you for telling me about them!
