This is a Wispa an animal native to Northern Continent on the planet Nlia
NLIA
Nlia , is a planet that exists in my AU Star Trek ‘New Start’ verse
seekhim.deviantart.com/gallery…
It is the home of the Nlians who are members of the United Federation of Planets
The planet has three landmasses:
The Northern Land: A tiny northern island continent, roughly the size of Turkey.
The Western Land: A large western continent the size of Eurasia
The Eastern Land: A large eastern continent about the size of Asia.
The two southern continents are collectively referred to as the Southern Lands
They are comprised mostly of desert with arid grasslands at the northern coasts and southern tips.
NORTHERN CONTINENT
In stark contrast, to the Soouthern Lands the small Northern Continent is covered with thick forests.
It is comprised of three regions: the Northern Mountains, the Central Forests and the Southern Forests
T
WISPA
Wispa are large four-legged, mammals indigenous to the Northern Continent
Territory
Wispa live in the Central Forests.
They prefer dense forest cover and are seldom seen in open areas.
Biology
Wispa come in various shades of brown.
Both males and females have horns which they use as defense and in mating displays.
They are known for their strength and are very fast and surefooted.
Although they avoid wetlands they are capable swimmers.
They can live for up to 50 years.
Wispa are herbivorous with a diet consisting of both grazing and browsing.
They eat grass, leaves, stems, fruits and bark.
Behavior
For most of the year, males and females live seperately.
Does are more gregarious and form herds of up to 8
Bulls live in smaller groups of up to 3 and some live alone.
Male and female groups come together during the mating season.
During this time unattached bulls try to find mates.
Males try to intimidate rivals by vocalizing and displaying with their antlers.
If neither backs down, they engage in wrestling.
Reproduction
Females give birth every two or three years
They have an eight-month gestation period and usually bear one calf, although twins do occur.
Calves nurse for a year.
Calves stay with their mother for two years.
Young bulls leave their birth herds after this and join a male group.
Females are able to reproduce at the age of three.
After that they can continue to reproduce until they're 40.
Relations with Nlians
When Nlians first settled the Northern Continent in 9000 B.C. they hunted Wispa for their meat, horns and hides.
After 800 B.C. they began to domesticate them as mounts.
Only a percentage are domesticated and there are many wild herds.
