Description
Huge file ahoy!As i promised some time ago, here's a tutorial on Japanese painting. I was very surprised how many people wanted to see a tutorial. I hope I haven't disappointed you. I'm not very good at making tutorials and I have a feeling I may have forgotten to include something important. I tried to share some tips and do a clear step-by-step tutorial but I'm not sure if it's any good.
Also, I'm sorry some of the pictures are so blurry. :/
Oh well, I'll be happy if at least someone finds it useful. :> If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.
Here's the finished picture: :

I bought mine from an art supply store. I guess you can get brush pens from some bookstores as well.

Millaista toi valkoinen muste on?

Pienestä koosta huolimatta W&N muste on hyvin riittoisaa (yksi pullo on kestänyt useamman vuoden meikäläisen käytössä). Suosittelen ostamaan sellaisen kalligrafiakynän varren ja hyvin ohutkärkisen terän, siten saa tehtyä todella pieniä yksityiskohtia. Sivellin kelpaa myös, mutta piirtoterä on tarkempi.
Toivottavasti oli apua! :>

No hyvä kuulla! :> Lista auttaa kummasti, harrastan itsekin niiden kirjoittamista, kun muuten unohtuu joku kaupungilla hoidettava asia.
Toivottavasti löydät niitä tavaroita. :>

I have another question.
Are you going to do a tutorial on how you did the inking for the lines?

Kahvilla on kiva leikkiä. :'>
Kiitoksia!

I have a question:
When you inked the line art, did you use a brush pen or an actual brush?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ShadeofShinon In reply to tobi1480 [2011-08-16 21:50:01 +0000 UTC]
I used a bursh pen but you can as well use a regular brush (I made a typo in the explanation) and ink (the ink needs to be waterproof).

tobi1480 In reply to ShadeofShinon [2011-08-16 22:01:31 +0000 UTC]
I'll prolly use the pen since I know how to weild it.

ShadeofShinon In reply to tobi1480 [2011-08-16 22:10:38 +0000 UTC]
That sounds like an okay solution. Imo, you get the best lines with a brush tip pen (or a regular brush) and it may also be easier once you get used to using a brush pen. :>

I just love working with brush pens. It gives you such a dark line, and you can tinker with the fatness of the line with out getting paint everywhere.
I use 'em for tattoo designs, so it really comes in handy.

ShadeofShinon In reply to tobi1480 [2011-08-18 22:36:22 +0000 UTC]
That's exactly why I love brush pens so much.
I believe that! It's convenient when you can do both thick and thin line with one pen.

I know, riight!? Just gotta get the rice paper... Which I guess is expensive. Although I guess if you have to specify what kinda paper it is, it will be expensive... XD

No necessarily, it may be surprisingly easy. I guess it depends where you buy it from. But yeah, better be prepared to pay a lot. X3 I've never seen any rice paper anywhere but on the other hand, I haven't looked for it.
