Description
Weight - 40 tonsMax speed - 96 kph in Mech/vehicle mode, 116 kph on roads in vehicle mode.
Armament - 2 x ER Medium lasers, 2 x Medium pulse lasers.
Additional equipment - ECM suite, TAG laser designator.
The Quadvee concept is that of a quadraped Mech that is equipped with wheels or tracks to allow it to convert into a kind of tank. Crewed by two Warriors, the Quadvee is the ground equivalent of the sadly deceased LAM or Land-Air Mech, a fairly successful attempt to let a Mech perform like a jet fighter. But like its predecessor the equipment needed to convert into the other mode is bulky and heavy, taking up precious space in the hull. The result is a flexible but somewhat limited series of designs, of which the Anansi is the most recent developed by the sole users (and the designers of) Quadvees, Clan Hells Horses.
Thanks to its omni weapons pods the Anansi serves as a scout, harasser and light trooper and its bi-modal design offers some useful tactical and strategic advances that do offset the fact that it can't carry as much firepower as a traditional Mech.

Why thank you! You should check out its bigger brother the Phaeton.

From a rules standpoint though, in vehicle mode, it would be susceptible to damage like a tank, and as the B-tech rules still favor mechs over armor, it would get cut to pieces in short order.
Another option would be to treat it like a L.A.M when not in mech mode, which brings with it a whole new set of problems. Kinda like a tank, but harder to fix, like all transformable mechs in the B-Tech universe.
Neat design though..

Actually in Vehicle mode it takes hits like a typical quad mech, you just have the wheels/tracks and conversion equipment in the legs. It makes them considerably tougher than tanks (they have proper rules for Quadvees in Battletech). If it looses a track, it just converts into a Mech and walks normally.

The rules i was referring to are how easy it is to crit-find on a tank versus a mech.

Pretty interesting design concept and another excellent job of bringing the concept to life by mattplog.
