Designed prior to Operation REVIVAL the Halcyon class Assault Cruiser was a class of four purpose built assault ships that would be able to engage hostile warships as well as be able to carry a large number of troops and equipment onboard and be tough enough to take significant damage and still deploy its cargo. Although 'small' for a cruiser, massing as much as a Lola class Destroyer, the Halcyon was built for bruising close quarter fights with her large batteries of heavy naval autocannons. A single heavy naval gauss rifle buried in the bow gave her formidable forwards firepower as well as a potent bombardment weapon if called upon to perform such a foul deed.
Each Halcyon can carry a full combined arms Trinary with 15 Mechs, 30 tanks and 125 Elementals. A fleet of 30 Pallas class shuttles can carry the vehicles down, and the Mechs are housed in special drop cocoons to allow them to be deployed into battle once orbit is achieved. Three of the class were completed before Operation REVIVAL and the CHH Spirit of Fire, CHH Song of War and CHH Unto the Breech all formed part of Clan Hell's Horses fleet as the Clans attacked the Inner Sphere, the last ship the CHH Forward Unto Dawn arriving just in time for the huge battle at Tukayyid.
