Designed by Clan Snow Raven to replace their Aegis class cruisers, many of which were suffering from serious metal fatigue and technical issues due to their age that was making the class harder and harder to maintain and keep in service. Designed to use as many parts of the older ships as possible, the Svalinn (named after a shield of Norse legend) used components like the weapons and even the jump cores taken from Aegis class ships as they were decomissioned and slowly scraped to give up their weapons to their replacements. The biggest improvement over the Aegis was their increased thrust rating, able to make 2.5g of sustained thrust compared to the Aegis 1.5g thrust.
