An earlier ship designed by Challenge Systems, the Courageous class was built to attack at high speed and for this the ship was capable of a sustained 4.5g of thrust, more than any vessel in service save the Lyran's Mako class corvette. Although the later Belfast class would use a hull form based on that of the earlier Courageous, the earlier ship was a dedicated attack ship but one who's huge engines made them troublesome and expensive to maintain. Thought to be extinct, one was found by Clan Ice Hellion in a naval cache and reactivated as the CIH Cage's Fury.

CIH Cage's Fury seen here is conducting a very close flyby of the Second Star League fleet Her and her escorts of four Fredassa class corvettes performed a full throttle flyby of the Star League fleet as they were being escorted to Strana Mechty for the Great Refusal. The Cage's Fury was able to outrun her escorts and several flights of fighters.
