Description He has eyes!!! Oh, and yes his beak moves. He's extremely light weight, I'm surprised.

He'll be for sale once done. If anyone would like to purchase him from me, let me know. If you'd like certain markings (etc.) on 'im, let me know NOW before part 5. (the actual feathering.)

Sharpe19 In reply to OneWhoIsUnloved [2009-04-14 00:39:33 +0000 UTC]

You can find it at any fabric store or upholstery store. It's just basic upholstery foam, medium/high density.

I started playing with some foam today and it's ended up as a beak for a fursuit head

I really need some help though, if I use tights for the base like you have, how does it work? Do you use the bum bit and cut the legs out? If you do which way around and do you sew the legs up?

Also, how did you get the moving jaw to work on this? which parts attatch where on the chin?

Sorry for all the questions ^ ^'

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpe19 In reply to Squishypops [2009-04-13 21:53:58 +0000 UTC]

Alright... You do cut the legs off, just above the base of the leg. Now you're going to want the seams at either side of your head, next to your ears. Not in the front. You'll be hating yourself with that seam there. As for the open leg holes, I just hot glue them shut.

You'll be doing all of this on a foam head base. With the foam, you want it to "hook" under your chin. I think I show it a bit on Shadow somewhere. I can always take pictures of him so you can see. Since the tights material is WAY stretchy, you'll want to build the jaw in a closed position. It'll take some tweaking, trust me. If you have to use elastic straps, have someone help you. Wear it and CAREFULLY pin one end of each strap to the mask while with the other ends you have in your hands.. While you wear it, take each of the straps (the ones that aren't pinned) and kind of hold it to the lower jaw (hold it as if the foam was connected to the elastic) and once you get it to work like you like, have someone mark the positions with a marker. Take 'er off and glue them. Try it back on and see what needs to be adjusted. It may take a little time, but you'll get it.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.^^

Good luck with getting a buyer!

Agriculture... its all they do at this school. I wanna run a beef property, but i have to learn about everythign (beef, sheep, crops etc) cos its all in the course... Its not like a uni (i think universities and collages are the same... not shure) but it's called an ag. collage. Pretty much anyone can go, even if u havent' done/compleated highschool...

Beef... But i think i'm gunna Jillaroo for a i before hand... (ya know, work on other peoples properties, doing stuff... i think you call 'em cowgirls, ut not sure?) then i'll (hopefully/theoretically) get my own cattle!

What are you gunna/wanna do?

Yeah, your gonna be a ranch hand for a while, get a hang of the ropes. See how its done. You gonna run black Angus?

Me? I'm hopin' to become a vet. I've been an intern with the local vet for the past 2 years. But I'd like to own my own ranch some day and run a few herds of cattle and horses on it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-19 05:33:34 +0000 UTC]

kick arse. Being a vet would be aweome, but i (sometimes) have a problem with blood... it's... more a problem with animals in pain than the lood cos i'm happy to cut up dead cattle and stuff... we hit a cow in the ute a while back and broke her leg, and there was no blood but it was just... kinda... dangling there (compleatly snapped the bone... poor girl) and my leg started tingling as i watched her... it didnt HURT me, as such, but thinking about it, i could feel it... sorta... it's weird... anyways, so i felt sick then... (we ended up shootin the poor girl)

Yah, ranch hand... thats what it's called over there! Some people call us 'station hands' or 'farm hands' over here (we don't really use the term ranch)...

And i'm not shure what id have... atm we have Limo bulls over mixed cows (angus, hereford, black buldies, a few murray greys and the odd Bos Indicus, like... brahmns adn santas) so i'd probaly sick to that. But if i can get $140 million i'd love to get some land in the Kimerlies (BIG land up there) and Brahmans run well there...

Youre a vet/in training? Awesome! You can come down to Aus and do all the vet-y stuff to my cattle for mates rates!! XD lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpe19 In reply to SpiritOfTheWild [2009-02-19 06:03:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah! I'll do all of your "vet-y" stuff fer free if ya pay my plane ticket. XD

Limousines. We've got a few of them. Sailors, Sharlay(sp?), Banded (black cows with a white "band" around their midriff), Jerseys, red 'n black angus, herefords, and a few others.

I'm a vet in training and yet I'm still in high school. Well, soon to graduate, but still. I should be in college right now if I hadn't been born after the school year deadline. *grumbles*

Sounds like beautiful land there. I'd love to visit some time if I had the money.

There's a ranch up in Montana ( 1 state over from me) that has huge ranches for sale. My folks and I have been lookin' at one that has over 3,000 acres of land. This sucker includes its own mountain, lake, and a small valley/canyon. Not to mention this 90 thousand dollar arena that is to die for with chutes, running systems,... the works. There's even an old abandoned gold mine that my dad thinks there may still be gold in 'er. ^^

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-19 06:39:52 +0000 UTC]

Yay! Visitness! lol. yeah, but i don't think i can afford ya plane trip... not on a farmers salary! lol

Wow... that ranch sounds awesome! Here its like... wow... look... we have dirt! and a dried up dam! oh and if you look reeeeeal cosely, you can see a blade of gras etween the dirt! lol. Up in the kimberlies is good though cos tey have rain every wet season (where i am, we don't have wet/dry seasons)and it is soooooooooo beautiful! You heard of the movie 'Australia'... you know... was a huge if FLOP! lol. well that is filmed on a property my dad used to work on, up in the Kimberlies.

Yup... I went on a holiday up there bout a year ago, and i know where they uild the homestead and everything was built... there is a scene at the beginning, of a car/ute driving across a road that was underwater, well i've een swimming there, adn teh day before wed seen 4m long salt water crocs just a little bit down stream! lol (sorry, my keyoard is still playing up)

Sharpe19 In reply to SpiritOfTheWild [2009-02-20 05:01:05 +0000 UTC]

Crocs... lovely. Not something I'd like to have cross my path. ;^^

The only thing we may encounter in our streams, canals, and creeks are beavers, channel cats (BIG cat fish), and maybe a few minks (we call 'em creek otters. ^^)But nothing that... eh... surprising. Now don't get me wrong, coming across a channel cat that's the same size as you are is not to wonderful, but at least you can (usually) scare them away.

XD But it WAS all over the news that a little girl had been taken by a croc in the same river... (poor girl) But i'm pretty shure there were no crocs in the bit i was swimming at cos there was this... waterfall/road-under-water thing and i dont think the crocs liked it too close to it. meh

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-23 04:49:36 +0000 UTC]

nah, i'm not close to that, thankfully.
Yeah... it's horrible... ( Death toll was at 208 last time i saw... its just hard to imagine that many people caught with no escape and knowing... Whole failies... :'(
I usually dont get affected by things like this, but when ever i think of it, or they show photoes of the dead on TV, i end up crying...
But we donated some stuff the other day, and there was this huge shed full of furnature and clothes and toys etc. You've no idea how much stuff, and it all looked good. And that was just one depot (there were 3 in the one town).... almost restores faith in humanity untill you remember that one of the fires (that killed 1/5th of a town) was deliberatly lit by some bastard...

*makes a face* I hate it when people cause intentional damage. Reminds me of 3 things:

1. Why we fought in wars and battles past. Fought in hopes of stopping such acts.
2. 9/11. Thousands of deaths cause some idiot had a tantrum and flew 3 passenger planes into the World Trade Center.
3. The government here introducing the Canadian Gray Wolf into our ecosystem. Those darn predators have nearly wiped out our elk and deer herds. Imagine your average dingo. They're about the size of a shepherd, no? Now triple that size so the head is about 4 1/2- 5 feet off of the ground, coming to about the size of a calf. We had wolves here before (size, once again, around your average dingo.) that we kept in check just fine. Now they've introduced a dog that has no natural predator that is also not afraid of humans.

It's a real sad deal that someone over there would do something like that. Makes me wish the artists of DA could get together or something and start an organization where 10% of all print benefits go to natural disaster aid, cancer research, and whatnot.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-23 09:34:41 +0000 UTC]

awwww... Yeah... those things suk... i never really new much about the wolves, and we dont get any dingoes where i am, but there are huge dingo/wild dog problems out bush in sheep country... they had people empolyed to keep them under control but the government decided it's money was better spent in the city, and stopped, now people are loosing their properties cos the dogs are just taking too many... and that leads to more peoblems like no income into small towns which have to close down shops etc... bastards!

Yeah... i sa a thing and all the Aussie furries put togeth an austion last weekend...raising money for 'and flood' (because believe it or not, we have places in declared 'disaster zones' due to floods as well atm) i dunno how much they raised yet cos i only heard about it today... DA should do somethign like that... for anything... cancer would be good...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpe19 In reply to SpiritOfTheWild [2009-02-24 02:00:11 +0000 UTC]

Aye, fight against cancer would be a good one. There's so many people who have had loved ones stricken by it that, in the end, there would be a huge group. Plenty large enough to start a "fight against cancer" campaign.

Is it illegal to shoot a dingo? When the coyotes over here got outa hand, we just shot 'em and gave their carcasses to the Native Americans. They paid a good price for a nice, full pelt.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-24 05:14:44 +0000 UTC]

yeah... a mate of mine ust lost his dad to cancer, and a guy i trial with is dying of it.. that sux... Verry few people arn't affected by cancer in one way or another...

I don't think its illegal to shoot dingoes... just on national parks i guess... not shure... theyre not all that common here anymore (i dont think), but there are huge packs of wild dogs (just, mix bred dogs that have been running wild for a few generations) and they get shot alot. You can seel the bodies to Native Americans? sweet. I love animal skins and skulls and bones and that kinda stuff, but i don't really like the hunting side of it (culling is ok if they die quick enough... i hate extended, unnececarry pain) When we went to the Kimberlies there were these Mickey (wild) bull skulls on the wall and i would have looooved one of those! Huge skulls with reall long horns and all. There were a few skills though of bulls they'd rund dead or shot, and the horns had grown in a loop and were either RIGHT THROUGH the eye socket or had grown into the bottom jaw or somethign... that musta been painfull for the poor bastards... i'm pretty sure the one with the horn through the eye had ended up killing itself cos it grew that far in...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sharpe19 In reply to SpiritOfTheWild [2009-02-24 06:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Now that's one heck of a skull. I don't blame you for wanting one. I'd love to have one hanging up on the wall of a lodge. Right through the eye? Whoa!

I've discovered if you shoot the dog right behind the elbow, you do little damage to the hide, they die instantly (cause you pretty much blow out the lungs and heart. No pain.)and you get a clean undamaged skull and living livestock in return.

Yeah. The Indians here use the front paws and whatnot for spiritual rituals. You get like $50 for just a pair of front paws, $200 for a decent pelt, and something like $400 for the entire body. A pretty nice deal. You get less threats to your livestock, they get a spiritual symbol, and you get a good reward in return. It's a win-win situation.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpiritOfTheWild In reply to Sharpe19 [2009-02-24 10:37:37 +0000 UTC]

sounds awesome. $400 for a dead dog!? WTF!!! I could go into buisness! lol...
My dad shoot some dogs a while back, and all i remember was him having to shoot it 4 times (right between the eyes) cos the dogs skull was so thick... it was horrible to hear him yelp each time... He was so friendly as well (theyd been caught and put in a shed for dad to shoot). The horrible thing was, they wornt even wild dogs. They looked like it (mangy, thin, bitch had just weaned a litter of pups by her teats) but dad found a 'missing poster' in a petrol station with their photoes on it... i guess they looked mistreated, and it took the owners a while to put the poster up so they can't have been to well cared for, but i still feel like shit about it... They didn't hurt any of our cattle, but the dog was HUGE and coulda done ALOT of damage if he wanted. I'm guessin i'd compare him to your huge arse wolvs.

We had an old tomcat like that. It took 4 shots from a 357 caliber handgun in the head, 4 separate times, at least once every few days. My grandpa took 'im out to the field, shot him, and left him. A few days later the cat came strutting back with a big ol' hole in his head. It took 4 shots before he finally died. Turned out he had a brain tumor in the middle of his brain so all the bullet was hittin' was the tumor. How that cat was alive with that thing in his head, no one knows. New meaning to "a cat with 9 lives"
