Description
Been a while, huh? Most of my creative focus has either been stunted by apathy or ideas that were just too big. Also, I've been ramping up for a DnD campaign at home, which is also going nowhere thanks to writers block.Last night, I watched some clips celebrating old horror movies leading up to Halloween and was enthralled by one of the Jekyll and Hyde movies. From that, I really wanted to explore the idea of Shay suffering from a similar symptom, clichΓ© as it is. Since I didn't have any real origin story in mind, I just skipped it. His more "outgoing" alter ego doesn't even have a proper name! Shrugging it off and going "well, I haven't been to DA in ages, I should do SOME-thing at least..." I proceeded to work on this.
I'm a bit out of practice, I don't think I scanned it in at a high enough resolution (my linework still's sloppy) but overall I like it, and I'm glad to have another form of Shay sporting something other than his usual flavor of "pasty white."

I'd like to, originally I wanted it to be more authentic to a jeckyll and hyde sort of story, but figured I'd do something smaller and manageable, otherwise I'd never get it done @.@ At this point, I'm trying to only draw things I can finish in one sitting, or I get disenchanted by the idea...
The original plot was that as a measure to prevent his constant gender-bending, he created a separate, secondary essence from the femininity blended within himself that would take the bullet for him. Unfortunately, it caused him to transform into that embodiment of womanhood, miss Shay or Shayquanda as was her draft name that I'm not set on... At first it was purely physical, but he noticed he was acting out of character, and forced himself to bury the essence within himself. Just like in jeckyll and hyde stories though his other half would take over, even more strongly affecting his behavior to the point she's a totally different person, even though its still Shay's mind.

Ahhh, well that actually makes a great deal of sense, shame there's no way to weave that backstory into this other than the textlog there, but it still works.

Oh, well enough, I'm taking time off of work next week for a mini-vacation while I have some family over. It'll be great! Otherwise same ol same ol, working with my roleplaying group at home as well as folks online, and playing a bunch of FFXIV

Its boring because its designed with short play-sessions in mind: if you run out of guildleves(quests), you're pretty much forced to grind. Personally, its nice that I can hop in, play for a couple hours and be done and do something else, keeps me from getting addicted.
But, I find the combat and armory system awesome.

Well, I always rationalize that for the 15 bucks a month, I'm getting a lot more gaming hours than I would for a single 60 dollar game every other month or so. As long as I'm having fun, its a positive thing. I only hate when it becomes like a second job, like my last days in FFXI became :/

Quality over quantity after all...

Awww, some MMO's are very well done. Being able to offer good replay value for the lifespan of a MMO is pretty impressive. I'll pick up a mic one of these days and upload some videos of me commenting on the action, or lack there of if I'm crafting XD I already have some on livestream, but they're not voiced :/

Fair enough :3 For me, I love "grind" games. Its kind of like Final Fantasy 5, in that you can learn all kinds of skills and abilities and equip them however you like, so for me the fun is leveling up classes and mix/matching skills and abilities I like. Some of them are nuts! One of my Thaumaturge spells causes enemies to take damage equal to the damage they deal me >

Fair enough, and same for me. FFXIV is designed around short bursts of play, so I can hop in, play for a couple hours, and accomplish quite a bit. You can only do 8 quests a day, and they can only be done once in a 32 hour period, so I hop on and do 4 quests one day, 4 the next, and by then the first 4 recover. Doing quests awards a bunch of gil and gives you monsters appropriate to your level, so there's no chore having to find good "leveling spots," unless you're out of quests and want to grind anyway.

Huh, an interesting system... but you do know some people are going to want to be able to use those quests to grind more effectively and bemoan their limitations...

They have since Alpha testing, lol. If you're interested, there's a FANTASTIC video that explains to "haters" why and how FFXIV has weird barriers that prevent quick leveling: [link] To summarize, while you can only level effectively for a short time on a single class, you can switch classes to be able to learn new skills at a normal rate. It's basically trying to encourage players to level multiple classes to get multiple abilities. Personally, that's what sold it to me. Sadly, there's only 2 magic classes right now
