The B1.5 Advanced Battle Droid was produced in the third year of the Clone Wars and were designed as a compromise between the B1 Battle Droid and the B2 Super Battle Droid, leading to it's name, the B1.5 Advanced Battle Droid. With more and thicker armor to protect itself against enemy shots the B1.5 could withstand more enemy fire and attacks, but were not anywhere near as persistent as the B2 series, Because they were not equipped with own internal weapons like the B2, not as big and thick and used many internal components of the B1 series, the B1.5 was not nearly as expansive as the B2 but still a better model then the weaker B1. Viewed as quiet cost efficient and effective, the B1.5 was primarily used like the B2 as a leading droid commanding normal B1 Battle Droids in battle or as a heavier infantry droid in battles and with even greater success to board enemy ships or storm enemy bunkers. This lead to the believe on side of the Republic and later the Empire, that the B1.5 was some kind of advanced Marine Droid. Sadly for the Separatists, the B1.5 costed still four times as much as the regular B1 and while that meant he was still cheaper then the B1-A Air Battle Droid this also meant that the B1.5 Advanced Battle Droid could not be produced in massive numbers like the B1 series.
