The Lucrehulk-class battleship was the primary capital ship of the Trade Federation's Trade Defense Force. Most Lucrehulks were modified from enormous cargo haulers. Upgraded and modified versions were later used by the Confederacy of Independence Navy.

After the betrayal of Sidious by Count Dooku, the Confederacy of Independent Systems reconquered the galactic Rim and industrialized the region. To trade between the Galactic Repulic and the secessionist Confederacy, the Trade Federation once again claimed officiall neutrality and decided to expand their Civil Trade Fleet and their Military Trade Defense Forces massively. They already had enough and powerfull ships to fight of space pirats and their newest expension secretly focussed on expanding the Neimoidean influence once again, by cementing their trade hegemony with newer better ship classes and a even bigger military power. Neimoidean Commanders like Mar Tuuk, Vugip Utra or Rulta Dolayk gave their opinion on how to improve the existing ships and the Trade Federation's new building program were centered around the Droid Core Ships they allready used for their Lucrehulks.

The Lucrehulk-class light battleship/ Star Blockader-class battleship/ Star Besieger-class battleship :

Designed as a Battleship and Carrier for purely military purpose, the Lucrehulk-class light battleship (LCLB), also known as the Star Blockader-class battleship or Star Besieger-class battleship (SBB) got rid of most of the civil tansport space and also the wasted space beside the Core Ship and the oute ring, by placing the Core Ships directly inside the middle of the ring. This gave the Trade Federation a powerfull ship, ready for space battles and orbital bombardment, despite it's much smaller ring design. Therefore it had much smaller surrounding space to cover and coul concentrate it's weapons on a much smaller area, resulting in a more powerfull concentration of fire. It even had more room for troops, organic and battle droid ones alike and could carry more military support vehicles like walkers, hover tanks and others then the normal Lucrehulk.

The upgrated, superior version of the Lucrehulk-class light battleship (LCLB)/ Star Blockader battleship class/ Star Besieger battleship class (SBB) was the so called Lucrehulk-class medium battleship/ Star Blockader-class super battleship/ Star Besieger-class super battleship, that took the idea and design but expandet it on the size of the regular Lucrehulk in a attempt to create a powerfull transport ship/ battleship that had even larger cargo transport ares then the original one and thereby could carry more cargo, battle droids, military weapons and supplies. Even inside the Confederacy, there was a controversy if the ship was a medium or heavy (super) battleship, as the Separatist Conglomerate used various designations for their own classes.

The only difference between the previous Lucrehulk-class medium battleship/ Star Blockader-class super battleship/ Star Besieger-class super battleship and this newer Lucrehulk-class heavy battleship/ Star Blockader-class ultra battleship/ Star Besieger-class ultra battleship was the fact that the Trade Federation followed their later upgrade of the purely military used Lucrehulk-class battleships at the end of the Clone Wars and got rid of every last bid of weak civilian design and other spots of their former cargo haulers, that made them originally unfit for a more military use. After all most of the Lucrehulk-class battleship had been military conversions of civil transport ships and were not purely build for a sole purpose to be used as battleships. This newer class however embraced it's new role with more heavy armor, more armament and a overall better security that made it much more fitting for a military role. This overall full armroed versions were later incorproated by the Trade Federation on most of the older, outdated versions of their Lucrehulk-class, Star Blockader-class and Star Besieger-class that were solely used military.
