Description

Yes it's true, new monthly tutorials are now available via my Patreon
>>>>> Get new tutorials and feed an overworked artist here <<<<<

Finally, the male anatomy counterpart to the ladies tutorial from a month or two ago

I decided not to address the male genitalia this time around... one reason being cuz I don't think they are drawn as often as the female parts, and secondly because I suck at them XD I won't link directly but if you click here you can find a separate link to another tutorial that I found interesting on a non-DA art site.

Oh yeah, sorry the colors are hellla ugly. I was feeling uninspired.

Thats it I guess... again, feel free to ref, copy or trace any of this, its all free for you to use. Hope someone gets some use out of it

The "special" link from the link you give to that "complementary tutorial" seems to be broken.

or; I wanted to see the dick tutorial, but it seems the link is broken.

By the way, nice and amusing tutorial ^^

Ahh insightful and no doubt it will become very useful. Mussles are not my forety and this will help alot.
Two questions though. Is this version printable? As having a version of this tutorial and the feamle one to print off and carry around in a sketchpad would be wonderful.
Aaaaannnd. I know I ask to many questions. But how would I go about creating someone with a smaller body but with the same impact in mussles. Sort of Spider-man slim but without the cunky mussles?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to BazookoidBen [2008-11-29 15:38:25 +0000 UTC]

1) Um, not really XD I guess, its sort of hard to print out, though I suppose it could be done. I'm thinking about making a book of all the stuff in these tutorials at some point so maybe if you just stick around a bit it'll happen?
2) You would draw the skeleton of your body like usual, then add the muscles, but don't make them too big. The difference between a wiry body like Spiderman and just a regular skinny guy is that Spiderman has more definition... his biceps are distinct from his shoulder etc, instead of being one straight line. So you would basically need to control how bulky to make the muscle, but don't cover it up with fat after you do that.

I've heard that the reason people don't have a lot of hair on their upper arms is because of shirt sleeves.

You know, reading that makes me think I sound a tad crazy, but hear...er read me out first.

Even with long sleeves, the cloth rubs against the shoulders and larger upper part more than it does the thinner lower arm. The rubbing discourages hair growth, making that section of the arm on both men and women less hairy. Of course, I could be completely wrong, but it seems like it could be true.

shingworks In reply to TalentlessMuse [2008-11-29 15:42:03 +0000 UTC]

Well I doubt that could be the answer, since 1) this hair pattern is a trend through all kinds of male bodies 2) not all people wear shirts and 3) of those who do, they probably don't wear t-shirts exclusively :B Also evolution doesn't occur from one generation to the next, its very gradual. BUT on the other hand I'm rambling

TalentlessMuse In reply to shingworks [2008-11-29 20:30:29 +0000 UTC]

Would I be surprised if I was wrong? No.

I think it'd be more surprising if I was right. I was just saying what I'd heard.

!! On the matter of referencing superhero-comics for muscles, I SAY NAY. They are overly exaggerated, yes, but the muscles in them are also ALWAYS drawn tense, even if the characters aren't using the muscles! So even if you learned to draw from them, you would get a wrong idea about the way they work.

Or, maybe not, I don't know. I would suggest lifemodel courses and referencepictures, instead.

But, such a cool tutorial, thanks for making these and being sassy and to-the-point about it. *_*

And yaaaay, I love the penis-tutorial. :3

Oh yeah, I meant more for figuring out where they go... like sometimes I have no idea what biceps are supposed to be doing under the skin and medical refs can be really confusing, but when you look at the hulk its like Oh I get it :B hehe

Yeah that peen tutorial is very thorough!

Unfortunately I didn't learn as much as from the others because..uh... I sort of got distracted.. in the middle.. with all the muscle things....

I wonder what it'll be like if I ever really look for reference pictures. ~~~

Sexy hip lines: VERY IMPORTANT. Is that chest-hairy guy palming his manly, manly body? I do not mind at all.

I used your advice to find pretty people on google and now I can't stop staring at Jensen Ackles who's everything that is lithe and sexy and perfect. [link] Thanks a lot. Gosh.
