Well, damn. I was going to comment about the general awesome, but it seems roughly a thousand people have beaten me to it. Still-- thank you, for this. It's fantastically helpful, and I know have the uncontrollable urge to draw.

I think i found my problem with anatomy. I tend to start with a body and always been afraid to start with the stick figures i see some people do. Since when i add the body to the stick it looks like a balloon animal. But after looking at this tut, I realized what I had been doing wrong. I shall fave this for future references. Time to look at all your tuts.

shingworks In reply to loisthefourth [2011-12-14 07:09:13 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I have no idea. The best place to learn them is honestly from cartoons or real life, if you have access to great action cartoons like Avatar the Last Airbender you can learn a lot about how they are posed. I don't know them off the top of my head but many of the korean animators from the show have their work on dA. If you google for those guys you can find some of their amazing pose work on the site and study from that.

Obligatory giant chinchilla this would get a fave just for that but it is very helpful (the tutorial, not the chinchilla), so i'm going to claim that the fave has nothing to do with the chinchilla

/eyes the 'running and waving' pose at the top

... Why does that eerily remind me of Freakazoid, even when I know it isn't?

Synthetoceras [2011-10-25 18:56:58 +0000 UTC]

I couldn't help but notice that you really didn't leave any notes to people who are actually looking to learn how to make correctly proportional poses, or any tips on how to do perspective. Why is that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to Synthetoceras [2011-10-27 05:07:23 +0000 UTC]

Probably because this is only a pose tutorial, not an anatomy tutorial. I think I put a note that you should know basic anatomy before doing any really complex poses... as for perspective, this is also not a perspective tutorial. I'd love to make one but I've been rather short on time recently.
