This is amazing, you do pretty good emphasis on the pose and I can read the body language easily. Some of the poses are awesome and the tutorial gives some pretty good tips.

questionnnnn, where do you recommend starting to draw the figure? the head? shoulders? torso? I usually start with a line of action and that helps butttttt after that I have no idea where to go and things start melting :'D

All your tutorials are super helpful btw! Thank you so much for all of them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to Vekke [2011-05-28 06:34:33 +0000 UTC]

I'd start with a body sketch (like a circle for the head and basic marks for the body/ line of action and hands) first, just because proportion is important. Then I place the head, then do the body, the keep the face for last since you should have a nearly finished body before moving onto expressions. Just work from biggest (concept) to smallest (details) and you'll be fine

Vekke In reply to shingworks [2011-05-28 20:04:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! That helps; it just takes me so much longer to do a rough/basic body sketch for humans that it seems like a Big Deal where I start :'D I'd better just learn to be more patient with my drawings I guess

great tutorial, this really helps to understanding the human body anatomy and how to effectively communicate action and the relation to objects (fat man dropping cake was hilarious btw). I will definitely take this on board when doing drawings and sketches and add to favourites.
Many Thanks!!

epicpoodle [2011-04-29 14:58:25 +0000 UTC]

Amazing how many "figure" pix (especially manga-style) here on DA are of somebody just standing there like they're waiting for a mug shot while getting booked at the police station.

MAKE THEM DO SOMETHING! Who the heck wants a picture of somebody just standing there? Even pinups pose!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shingworks In reply to epicpoodle [2011-04-30 04:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Exactly XD It's not like everyone has to be drawn doing something dramatic, just as long as it's interesting to look at.

The pic where a boy and girl sits together (The one that is connected to "What are the postures telling you about each person? Do you think they're friends?"), there's something coming out of the girl O.o what was that????

TheCrimsonVampire In reply to ??? [2011-04-27 01:11:24 +0000 UTC]

I tend to make the measurements right with my guidlines, but in the end my picture looks stiff and like the person isn't going to get up off the paper and start running around (I like it when a picture looks like it can do that)
So this helps a LOT!

My drawings may have been advanced a little, but my poses are still as stiff and straight like my personality. This tutorial helped me a lot, and I thank you for making this!

Keep up the awesome work, I'm certain you'll be helping other artists out there, too!

See ya
