Thanks, this is great!!
I figured out how to do it in paint shop pro without a leaves brush so the effect was a little different, but shiny shimmery sparkles all the same!!

I'm having trouble making that circle. I'm fairly new to photoshop. Can you explain to me exactly how you get that circle to appear that way? Thanks.

Shintei-chan In reply to BlackBeltMaster [2007-12-01 05:21:17 +0000 UTC]
there is an easier way I didn't know back than...
Just use the circle making selection tool (first icon on vertical toolbar or "M" as shortcut)
If the icon is in the shape of square just click and hold...and more shapes will pop up...
Hold "Shift" while dragging the selection circle so you'll get perfect circle not ellipse...
Hope that helped

Great tutorial! This technique is really cool and sounds really useful, I'm going to have a ball experimenting with it. I never touched the blur tools before this lol... thanks for posting it! You're awesome!
I got a question for you though if you don't mind - how do you achieve the cross-star-shaped sparkles, like the ones in your great Wounded by Frost picture? Is it a similar technique?

Thanks! I'm glad you find it useful!
it means a lot!
That cross-star-shaped sparkles are actually a brush you can find on internet...actually photoshop have one similar already in it's random set...
Tho...such sparkles could be done too...than convert to brush for general use...
Try goodlikg "sparkle brush"

I dont think Ill use this for a light sparkle, but there have definately been things Ill use next time
and I think you wrote it well, although you can notice from the way you put your sentences its not your best language, but there are no diturbing mistakes, as Ive seen on other places

well...there are many uses of leaf brush and filters...
I know...I often don't know how to explain what I do in English...so I have to improvise... and twist sentences...
I'm still learning
