Description
Fixed alot of compositional and color problems, as well as fixed other quirks that needed smoothed out. I think it looks better with alot of the things I added/subtracted from the piece. It just works better imo.If you want to see the differences visually, this is the older version [link]

Hah, thanks. Looking back at it (old image) it did not age well.
It was simply a lot of smoke photo manipulation, thats all.

Jesus!!!! This is mental, what size do you originally work in? The detail and realisum is just amazing.
Haven't looked at previous versions, put this looks the finish piece if ever I saw one.
It the scale of the whole piece, it really looks titanic with an emense amount of power in that explosion. Apart from the depths of your mind how have you found your inspiration, what have you been looking at to allow you to visulise this?

um more recent movies where asteroids hit planets and stuff i guess.
its a normal phenomenon in space, and I just wanted to capture it.
this particular piece is also due for another revision too in a month or so.

WOW! This is really stellar work here! I'm still working on clouds, not even close to anything that could touch this level!
I always love pieces like this.. with big ol' balls of fire 'n explosions etc... lots of dynamics to portray.. lots of energy... it gives me a rush just looking at this piece!
Two things I do notice... in the main large explosion, right down in the body of it.. it appears you've created debri there.. possibly from Max? at least it almost seems to be picking up a very faint highlight to suggest that anyway... so I'm not exactly sure what you'd want to do to make it look a little more like debri other than to maybe faintly blur some of it, or if it's on a layer, fade some of it out just a little bit, to help it blend into that portion of the picture a bit more.
The other thing I notice is some of the trails behind some of the fireballs are a bit crisp and too clean-cut looking... to me they look like they're actually a seperate layer, instead of part of the picture. Whether or not they are a layer, or were a layer, or whatever.. that's just the way they appear to me.
I notice one nice smoke trail that's a bit more blurred and it looks like it's right there in the pic, instead of sitting on top of it.
I know this is now a slightly older piece of yours, but I had to comment on it anyway as it's such a great work! So please forgive me if my critiques are too late to be of any use for this particular piece, if they would ever have been useful.

Very cool. I like the limited colours, gives it such style. 1 Think I must add, is that it looks great they way you have given such a 3dimensional volume to the smoke.

Like the touch ups, the perspective (atmosphere) seems much more realistic, and in turn enhances the severity and gravity of the piece.
