Here be a finished tutorial! For a long time I wanted to do a tutorial on bats... and little by little I've been getting more motivation to do so every time I saw a incorrect bat. IT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY.SO, if you're wanting to have a bat character (WHO IS COMPLETELY A BAT. NO HYBRIDS AND WHATNOT) then please draw the bat correctly. Look at references. Don't just guess. AND DON'T DRAW CANID PARTS ON A BAT. GRAAAAAAAHHHHH.
I also think I'ma keep the bat character I made up at the bottom. :'D I LOVE Lesser False Vampire Bats. They are so cute. <3

The only thing I wanna gripe on yet agree with you is the feet. Drawing accurate feet on a bat anthro would be very difficult to do over and over again.

I still say no to paws. NO PAWS! If you're wanting paws on it, mix it with another animal that has paws.
But a bat that is only a bat should NOT have paws. That will only confuse people who don't know much about bats even more.

Actually two things. Accurate wings + clothes do not really mix well either, but at least a good artist can sort of work around that. I wish I could show you Styx so I could be a bit better at this.

yeah. D: Some bats do have multiple names.
Like the proboscis bat. It's also called the Brazilian long-nosed bat, river bat and the sharp-nosed bat.

also just looked them up... and they ARE different species. o_O
Townsend's long-eared bat loves in the US while the brown long-eared bat lives in Europe.

well thats one of the reasons i picked the gray longear because iΒ΄ts in europe/germany to find and gues what im from good old germany xD "Guten Tag, mΓΆchten sie ein schΓΆnens kaltes Beer?"
For me it was important that my fursona is (exept for beeing a bat) must me a animal that is found in europe and especialy in germany.
donΒ΄t ask me why but i love bats since im lill, well i liked all animals and i knew alot of them.
my parents still telling people proud about the time where i was talking about a vulture and huntingskills infront of a crowd of adults 25+
but i still loved bats more xD and pinguins for some reaseon xD
mh well i realy would like to see that links... maybe we can find a other way?

MANY furry artists draw them that way... but the most over used thing drawn on bats are the canid noses. STOP ITTTT.

I've seen some furry artists draw good bats, but never have I seen ones with canine features unless drawn by a 5 yr old.
