Description There was an obvious breeze in the air, the sunset made the mountains glisten, and set the sky ablaze, but what stood out the most was the smile she was wearing, joy and pride, she was a big sister now, marveling at the miracle she cradled in her arms, and resolute in her role as guardian.
I always liked that picture, Isabelle doesn't smile much anymore...

When the Empire condemned Alderaan she was half the Galaxy away, her home was gone, erased from existence in an instant, along with two billion innocent lives, Maya one of them... And among her feelings of grief and rage, the strongest of all is guilt, guilt that in those last terrifying moments she wasn't there to cradle her little sister, to shield her eyes from the approaching malice, and whisper reassuring lies into her ears... ~Quinn Shara's memoirs, Rebellion years, remembering Isabelle.
-------

Star Wars OC AU stuff. Painful stuff...

Ugh, Izzy I really love you, I'm so sorry, I'm so cruel to you, please don't hate me. ;_;

Isabelle looks so happy, so proud, and she was so happy, holding her baby sister Maya, in a way everything she does is for Maya, she fights the Empire at first to make the Galaxy a better, safer place, after Alderaan's destruction however she fights for vengeance, consumed by grief, in a way she was destroyed along with Alderaan...

Her family were quite wealthy, they owned a large estate, with a magnificent view, however they were a humble sort, using their wealth to fund charities and such, along with the parent's generous nature Isabelle had a strong sense of justice, and opposition to Imperial rule. She spent her early life as a volunteer on humanitarian/aid crews, soon establishing herself as a small but significant neutral presence, however with incidents of Imperials attacking aid crews (claiming them to be Rebellion sympathizers) growing in frequency she began to transition her small organisation from a neutral entity into a Rebel cell. During this time her visits home would grow fewer and fewer, she deeply missed it, especially spending time with her little sister, although they spoke very frequently via holonet, it wasn't the same.

The outfit... I winged it, I hope that dress looks at least vaguely Star Wars-y... For the pose I researched the proper way to hold a baby, so yeah, hopefully I did something right? ;w;  That fancy  badge-looking thing on her cloak is probably her family crest, little Maya thinks it's pretty... ;w;
It feels so bittersweet to see Isabelle smile. ;_;

Background is... Mye'h, I like it and hate it.

But anyway, I hope ya'll like, feedback greatly appreciated!

You destroy my feels with this sir ; A ; how could chu ; - ; still this piece is absolutely beautiful and yet sad at the same time. A distant memory and thought after the planet is destroyed. She looks so happy and blissful, to know what happens next sucks so much ;_________; the background looks lovely to me and makes it feel like Alderaan.

Honestly I really like the background, I mean it isn't as detailed as what you normally do but that's to be expected in a landscape piece as opposed to the usual mechanic cluttered backdrops you typically do.

As to the piece itself...oh this is so beautiful and yet so tragic because we all know what ultimately happens here and it's heart warming and wrenching all in one.

It's mainly the green that's bugging me, I started the background with an idea that their balcony overlooks a lush, green plateau garden, which in turn overlooks a mountain range, but the perspective just wasn't right, so it ended up being a crappy looking green hill... I like how the mountains came out, but the green part just ruins it for me... ;_;

Aye, it's times like this where I know I'm going to artist hell for my cruelty. Still, it's nice to see a younger Isabelle, in a better time, together with Maya... ;_;

Ah I do see what you mean when you mention that and can see how that might be vexing.

However for the angle and what you had to work with it came out very nicely and honestly reminds me of some of the views from my hometown, makes me feel a little homesick if I'm being honest.

And if you're to be borne to hell for cruelty I will like as not be waiting at the gates as your greeter my dear.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it ^_^

Honestly though, I actually found this one emotionally exhausting to work on, knowing what happens to these characters...
