Awesome tutorial; I was looking for something like this. It took me a while to figure out what you meant about the clone tool, though, but I eventually got it

Skullb3at In reply to shiveringsoul11 [2011-08-07 01:45:36 +0000 UTC]

Is it just the tab in the toolbox, or is it the entire tool window?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

shiveringsoul11 In reply to Skullb3at [2011-08-07 05:18:03 +0000 UTC]

the entire window that shows the layers i cant get it to come up

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Skullb3at In reply to shiveringsoul11 [2011-08-07 06:18:02 +0000 UTC]

Click Windows > Toolbox
or something like that. I haven't used gimp since I made my last tutorial in 2010 so I don't remember what it is exactly.
If you can't find it, I'll open it up and look for the exact buttons, alright?

TrueHorseLover165 [2011-04-22 12:17:58 +0000 UTC]

the erase tool doesnt work it deletes the whole background but yours goes white so you have used the paint tool

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Skullb3at In reply to TrueHorseLover165 [2011-04-23 05:51:36 +0000 UTC]

Mine isn't the paint tool, it just turned out stranger than I originally expected. You don't use the paint tool, but to avoid getting a white background, you should make sure it isn't a Background layer, & Two, make sure there's another layer under it.

A useful additional tip would be to, at the end, using the smudge tool, take a one size larger brush and set its threshold fairly low. (Around 15 or 25. This will limit how "far" you can smudge the colors.) Then very slightly smudge what you've done. Not a lot, or it will also look weird, but enough to move the colors around following the way that the horse's fur moves. (It would probably only work on more solid colors, like white.) I just thought I'd add this, because I can see round brush marks, and swirly areas where you did the clone tool. Otherwise, great tutorial! It's not common to see GIMP tutorials, in my experience.

Skullb3at In reply to WinterDarkmoon [2011-04-14 18:09:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I noticed the lack of good gimp tutorials when I was aspiring to become a better "Gimper-er" so I made some of my own.

And thanks for the tip. I will considering adding stuff like that whenever I can get around to it 3:

Stally-Designs [2011-03-07 23:17:03 +0000 UTC]

i found this helpful! and i also used this for puting a horses feet in the water!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Skullb3at In reply to Stally-Designs [2011-03-08 01:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Really? How would you use this for that?
Usually when I put a horse's feet in the water, I simply erase some of the hooves, and then paint over the hooves to make the splashes.
