Description Hey guys! I made a tutorial on how I made the Koi fish for my Koi pond out of polymer clay. I hope you guys will like this! I will also post a tutorial on how to make the lily pads and the pond itself in a few days.

Completed View:

UPDATED pond (I have changed a few things on how I make my ponds now, esp. since my tutorial was a few years ago):

Here's part 2 of the tutorial:

i had a ton of trouble with air bubbles in my resin and I followed the directions. Any idea for the next one since I'd really like to not have as many or any air bubbles again.

SmallCreationsByMel In reply to MELLO-23 [2014-05-08 06:13:04 +0000 UTC]

bubbles come up when the resin is either mixed too fast/roughly, or the thing you use to mix it with doesn't stay in contact with the bottom of the resin.  I haven't really had many bubbles in my resin, I usually just mix slowly and gently and try not to lift my toothpick, which I use to mix the resin.  If you lift your tool when mixing, air bubbles will go into the mix.  Hope this helps you!

This helped but I still get air bubbles not as many though. Guess practice makes perfect!

Thank you!  Craft stores sell polymer clay, with the brands Premo, Fimo, or Sculpey.

wow nice job, but i have a question because im kind of a noob with polymer; is it water proof? like does water damage it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SmallCreationsByMel In reply to candycornthesnake [2012-07-30 03:21:01 +0000 UTC]

I haven't really tried putting clay through water haha although I do not think it is waterproof. The water would leak through the clay and I think it might damage it.

PurpleMoonFang [2012-07-14 00:50:05 +0000 UTC]

my fins keep pulling apart when i roll them out. then i end up cutting them instead of just texturing. any way to fix this or should i just keep at it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SmallCreationsByMel In reply to PurpleMoonFang [2012-07-14 04:12:56 +0000 UTC]

Use a lighter hand and go slowly. It takes a lot of patience because you want the fins thin enough to be semi see through. I then used the knife not my fingers to scrape it off of the surface
