Description Ok, this is a compilation on some notes I have taken over the past 5 years or so. This is a tiny snippit of that information. I have reams and reams of information to go through and organize. I want to publish a book on my ideas.

no one has ever publish an anatomy book based primarily on women. Sure there have been "how to draw Comic Females" and "how to draw Anime Females" But never a "How to draw female anatomy" book.

So tell me if you think these patterns are useful. Let me know if the help you draw females better.

The center drawing on the far right - does the butt really jut out that much? And is that the breast or a bone?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Snigom In reply to MXCoriginal [2012-01-30 02:43:49 +0000 UTC]

The butt jutting out is completely changeable depending on what you're going for. Some women have what is known as "Ghetto booty" like Jay-lo and it sticks out EXTREMELY far. Some women have flatter bottoms and it doesn't stick out as much.

As to your other question, the top part in black is the Breast. The blue part in the middle is the stomach and lower abdomen. The reason they three are separated is because they adjustable. I know I didn't really do a good job of explaining that in the tut

Length of arms and legs?

toffeeComet In reply to Grindor [2012-01-22 02:09:48 +0000 UTC]

It kinda of depends, really. I'm still in middle school and about the same height as my math teacher, though I have longer arms. My younger sister also has longer legs than I do in comparison.

I find it interesting that you felt women needed more detailed notes than men. I've always found women easier to draw, because the curves give the whole body an easy rhythmic quality. Men are like planks that move. Not that I don't like looking at and studying men, I like that part a lot, but dang, it is a confounding gender artistically.

Though, maybe that's just because I'm living in a woman's body and have it as constant reference? It would be interesting to get a decent survey going about that...

Anyway! This is really nice! Thanks for posting it!

If you publish a good how to draw female anatomy book, I will most definitely purchase it and use it for notes. I wanted to do the same thing though, because I was mislead millions of times by tutorials, that is before I found out the secret to drawing people well every time is knowledge about anatomy.

BondageStorm In reply to ??? [2011-03-27 05:06:35 +0000 UTC]

thats true. I am reading a book about "artistic anatomy" and it was very good on explaining male anatomy.
When it passed to female, it only did a comparrission of the differences between male and female body, instead of a full study... stupid...
your book would be great

I learn in figure drawing class that females slightly differ from males too. So far I remeber the female's rib cage is slightly smaller then a male's.

the arrows where a completely new concept to me- all the formal anatomy classes I've taken make WORLDS more sense now that I see this tutorial that direct you where the muscles and lines of the body "flow"- indicated with arrows.
This was so useful!
