Another Metroid picture.I got the idea to draw it when I was comparing the SA-X with Dark Samus.
Unlike Dark Samus, the SA-X is much more scary and terrifying. In almost every encounter with SA-X, you'll have to run and hide or get killed.
Dark Samus is more like an ordinary boss with Samus' looks. Not even a bit scary.
Sketched with pencil.
The rest was done in Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Took around 8h.

I know what you mean, the SA-X scares me every time I play that game. The fact that for 95% of the game you can't fight back against it, along with its behavior and the atmosphere created when it's around, makes it an extremely intimidating enemy.
Meanwhile, I can run into Dark Samus/Metroid Prime and just think, "You're a dick."

I always picture Dark Samus competing with SA-X and trying to become something, but just fails miserably. Which is a bit contradicting since Dark Samus did rise to become a greater threat, but the mindless parasite mimicking you still takes the spotlight.

Lol, that gives me this image of D.S. and SA-X standing on either side of Samus, pulling on her arms in opposite directions, saying things like "She hates ME more!" and "I was her nemesis first!"
I know what you mean about SA-X taking the spotlight, as far as Dark Samus was concerned, she was just another enemy to fight, a powerful enemy, but just another challenge that Samus had no qualms about facing, and would only have to fight her when she had the proper equipment for a battle; but SA-X was more than that, it was a threat beyond Samus's capabilities for a time, it could easily kill her, and it was always hunting her, so you always run into it when there was no way to fight it, making it the most intimidating enemy.

exactly. but the SA-X was Samus basically. Dark Samus was Samus...but energized by Phazon...therefor Dark Samus was more badass than SA-X, but SA-X was more terrifying becuase it had all of your abilities...and you didn't

and the music they played when SA-X is there scare me but dark samus was....not as terrifying or even remotely scary or as fun to face :/

the horror factor, yes, Dark Samus wasn't scary at all.
HOWEVER, i did like fighting DS more than SA-X, especially right at the end of Echoes, take it's Phason particles and shoot them right back at Dark Samus, for me, was one of the most memorable moments in the game

God yeah I remember playing this. Everytime SA-X appeared, the sound would go all spooky and you'd hear footsteps in the distance. And if SA-X saw you... you better run like hell.

one time where I had to escape from SA-X, I took 300 Energy damage (x3 energy tanks) from just touching her

I hate the encounters in Metroid Fusion where you have no choice but to blow your cover in order to get away, like in sector 2 after coming in from the main reactor silo.
