Yay, a new Metroid-comic!Samus usually starts out with no power-ups. Why does she do that? Sometimes it makes sense i ex: Metroid Fusion.
But mostly it's just like if...
This comic is probably answering that question. Enjoy!
And if you can't figure it out, square 2-4 takes place in the beginning of Super Metroid.

I like how Ridley's pointing at the larva with almost a grin on his face, as if he's screaming "MINE!" On another note, it really does make sense now!

Well, there's only one exception I can think of...in Metroid Prime 3, she only gained powers...she never lost any.

It was my understanding she gave them back to the Luminoth, but I see your point. Still, she didn't lose the abilities she started Prime 3 with.
