Description
An animated stamp reflecting my feelings about the Sonic cast. I'm sick of people whining about how there are too many characters. You see a lot of other series get away with handfuls of characters, so what's the big deal with Sonic?All the sprites are from Sonic Battle.

Good point, even the Super Mario series has introduced new characters with each new game. (Waluigi, E. Gadd, Toadsworth, Bowser Jr., Petey Pirahna, Rosalina to name a few) Not to mention some game series like "Final Fantasy" change the entire cast with each new game, and everyone's cool with that. Yet, if they add so much as one one-shot NPC to Sonic, people spaz out. (I remember seeing a major gaming website say the only characters in Sonic should be Sonic & Robotnik... Kinda extreme, wouldn't you say?)
It really does seem like a double standard with the Sonic series. Critics/fans always seem to hate-on the series for many reasons, but never hate on other games/characters for doing the exact same things.

It's not that the cast doubles with each new game, it's that eighty percent of them never see appearances past two or three games. They've got a lot of amazing characters they never use, and instead keep giving us Big and....well, Big and Silver are the only characters I have problems with, and Silver's more because the game I've seen him in was viciously bad.
All and all, I actually like the variety of characters too, I just wish they'd use the ones they have before deciding to add new ones.

There are some characters which I dislike, but there are others with I like.
Some are retro character which Sega could bring back...

Sonic had a Manx Cat for a girlfriend, Tails was originally a girl and Shadow wasn't the first person to use a gun.

Um, no. Tails was not initially a girl. He was NEVER a girl. That's just a retarded rumor that was started by some fans. The creator has even said himself that he was never meant to be a girl. If he ever was a girl in any series at all, and I'm just missing something, it was probably one of those old fucked up series that Sega didn't even create, like that cartoon where Tails was a squirrel and only 4 years old.

Look at your initial comment from December. The proof is right there.
If you mean the claim that Tails wasn't initially a girl, you never backed up your claim that he was. Just because someone said Tails looked like a girl in a beta screenshot, doesn't mean he was initially meant to be one.

I'm pretty sure he was meant to be what he's always been. A two-tailed boy fox that's Sonic's best friend. He even appeared as that way back in the very first Sonic CD-I games.
I think the idea that he was meant to be a girl is just a rumor.

Tails wasn't in Sonic CD. He was in Sonic 2, Tails Pico and Tails Adventure.

I remember him being in some really old Sonic game where Amy was still known as Rosy the Rascal. Didn't have a big role in it, but I'm pretty sure he was still in it. That's what I'm thinking of.

They're probably set in a different timeline and may even be like an alternative universe kind of thing. Hence why we don't see characters like Sally or Fiona in the games or Sonic X. That's my guess, anyway.

The Archie canon had elements based on SatAM. Sally, Rotor and Bunnie have appeared in Sonic Spinball.

Yeah, but I have yet to see any of the characters appear in any canon Sonic games. Sometimes they'll make appearances in some of the more minor games, but that's about it. Heck, I keep hearing the claim that Cosmo will appear in a game someday, thus making TailsxCosmo canon game-wise, and that has yet to happen either.

Well, my 3 favorite Sonic couples are Sonic/Amy, Tails/Cosmo, and Knuckles/Shade, so I'm glad the cast continues to grow like this.
