Well,This was also done for Photog, using textures taken with my camera, I created a planet texture 5000 x 10000 (880MB) to create hugley realistic planets. (I may release this texture later).

Mm. Not my best. It was rushed through die to time contraints. I hate the big planet as you said, however, I kinda like the flare...
