Description I swear, any time I post about Windows, and having some issue, even a trivial one, with it, there is no shortage on people going "Windows sucks, get Linux!"
Even when I reinstalled Windows 7 on my Desktop (for a fresh, non-vista based installation) and posted a journal about it going right as I expected it to people posted about getting Linux. Even when I tweet about Windows. Hell, I just have to say the word "Windows" and I'll get someone going "AAAAAH SWITCH TO LINUX"

I have nothing against Linux. I've used Ubuntu and it's actually pretty nice. But I'm not about to give up Windows. It's so nice, even if it does act silly sometimes.

But yeah, popular statements are:
"Bah, Windows sucks. Get Linux"
"Haha, Micro$oft. Get Linux"
"Get Linux, it supports GIMP"
"You should get Linux, it's open source"
I love it when people use the "You use GIMP" line. GIMP also works on several other operating systems, should I go get those too?

inb4 people post on this deviation about how Windows sucks and Linux is better.

GIMP 2.6.11

But, but, but... Linux makes your art better, and it does maintenance on your car, and it saves poor little kittens and gives them flea baths, plus it will run your dishwasher for you and if you don't have a dishwasher then it will buy you one!

Lol, I use both Windows and Linux, actually. Each one for different things...

I use Windows to give the cat fleas so that Linux may give it a flea bath!

I had a lot of issue with Windows. Hah, I changed to Linux and don't want to switch to Windows. Ever again. That is just me though. But maybe I will do dual boot if I get myself a better computer

The very fact you use Windows means you need to switch to Linux...

The thing is Linux can do anything but persuade other people to get Linux.

Incidentally from my personal experience (So it might not be true for everyone) GIMP runs less buggy on Linux, a friend who uses GIMP complains that it has crashed many times. I've used GIMP on Linux since July 2009 and it's only crashed twice, and both times was when it was opening an image so I lost no data. How crashy/buggy is GIMP for you?

I personally would recommend getting Linux when you get a major issue/error with windows which is just a matter of time. I assume you know about dual booting, I have Windows XP on my computer (No I'm not upgrading, no point when I hardly ever use it).

This is my type of persuasion, I just give you the facts and let you work it out for yourself.

My experience with Windows 7 comes to removing IE from the task bar, that's it, it had to be done.

Also: inb4 OS flame wars.

GIMP 2.6.4 and GIMP 2.6.6, around there, those versions didn't really run on Windows very well. The versions after that have run a lot better. GIMP 2.6.11 hardly *ever* crashes now, and doesn't bug out at all.

This stamp, so much.

I've even had problems with Linux before. What do I do in that case? Then again, I have no problems with Linux. Not nearly as many problems as I do with the most zealous Linux users/supporters.

inorite?
I have a laptop that, it came with Vista (that didn't run very well), I tried XP which also didn't run very well and I had to track down drivers, Ubuntu, which also didn't run very well and froze up.
Then I put Windows 7 on it. It runs great

eon-krate32 [2011-01-07 05:50:21 +0000 UTC]

People actually do that?

Seriously, no OS is perfect. Only reason Windows OS act funny sometimes is because more than one company makes the computers that run them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnarchisThinker In reply to eon-krate32 [2011-10-02 12:39:13 +0000 UTC]

Actually, so does Linux... Then again, the OS can run on Virtual machines just fine, it's when you have to run it on anything other than a netbook that apparent problems prop up. Please correct me if I'm wrong. /shot
