Most of the Canterlot guards are unicorns though. Don't know if I've ever seen a pegasus or earth guard pony. Although I guess it would be a nice change.

I thought most were Pegasi, have you seen A Bird in the Hoof? Season 1, episode 22, there are Pegasi guards there. I don't know if I've ever seen an Earth Pony guard myself. I almost wondered if Celestia had some sort of prejudice against them. Which is weird, because Earth Ponies like me are the strongest and have the most stamia of all ponies except for Alicorns.Β

True, I did see Pegasi too. I guess it would be all up to the writers and
staff to collaborate and see how earth pony guards would benefit.
Fact is that Alicorns are made up creatures for the cartoon and that they are a coming
of both unicorn, pegasus and earth ponies joined in one.
Celestia loves everyone and protects all, but earth ponies are not good defensive wise
in spell attacks. They would get injured and have nothing to defend themselves with.
Not even Pegasi. Trying to go up against something that has infinite magic versus you with
hardly anything remotely useful is a tricky risky situation.
