Description
For the Battletech card game from Wizards of the Coast, 1997.I only include this one for the sake of completeness. The colors are gaudy, the lighting is poor and the fire is embarassing. That said, it was the first one I painted, and I hadn't yet realized I could use photographic elements for flames and explosions...

It wouldn't be BattleTech without the gaudy colors. And I dig the cartoonish fire.
Photorealistic explosions plastered on top of a painting take me right out of the work and make it obvious that I'm looking at a Photoshop layer.
Side note: this is the first and maybe the only time a Cicada has ever looked intimidating!
