I think I'm still in that artist's block thing.But anyway.
I think Vahana never did get to wear this, but I wanted to draw something that's not about badass fighting nor soft fluffy romantic stuffs. So this is what I did.
Mind that looking at an Emperor/Empress in the face is punishable by death, this basically applies to anyone except the emperor/empress' blood relatives .
So they have these golden pearl veils to shade away their faces from people as well.
Swirly super intricate embroideries are for top-class prothean royalties only.
That friggin long name is Vahana's full name as an Empress. She doesn't use it unless she had to be addressed in political events.
Sitt'trij is "73rd" in prothean language
Ivrone means "white-colored" and can be interpreted as "immaculate" in prothean language
Quick Fact:
So Vahana's "formal/true" name as an adult would be 'Ivrone' (Vahana is actually her Milk Name/Childhood-name), but she preferred to be called and known as just "Vahana". And she actually disliked to be treated as a high-born.

I'm being crazy with ideas and being controversial by dosing sci-fi fans with cloths and decorative designs.

I envy those who can draw MGS-style designs and darn, HALO, I love Halo (as the game series) so much I don't even need to play the game to love it. Those armors and the vehicle settings are just too stunning to watch.
And I'd have to say "Damn Halo Legends" too.... I avoid watching anything that originated from the Western worlds and adapted by Japanese anime studios. The studios are usually the ones which I worship a lot, but I will always just watch the trailers and no more... The only one I've watched was the Animatrix, mostly because of the stories were good.
Same thing goes with that upcoming ME anime....

The "seeing the face = punishable by death" thing was an idea you got from the Chinese emperors, right? I vaguely and very faintly remember seeing a movie where that is mentioned.

It's a rule shared by Chinese, Korean, and Japan; I'm not so sure about the Southern Asian civilizations, but it looks like a common thing, considered the fact that Chinese culture has influenced its neighbors for the past 2000-3000 years.

Actually, the Chinese and the Korean were debating/arguing/fighting over the ownership of being the origin of some stuffs since the past 1-2 decades. I happen to be the observer type of person (from the academia), and the only thing so far I can say is that it sounds too biased to just say that the cultural influence is a one-sided communication of China dosing a hell lot of culture onto its neighbors. However some Chinese Dynasties in history did treat their neighbors as subordinates (it's a fact, the status is indicated by the talons of the dragons). I haven't gone down to the garment color codes in political ranks, but it will be something worth looking into.

Ah, even I didn't know which culture did that part of the tradition/code start from. But a bunch of stuffs were punishable by death back then... and China waged wars in deaths so vast that it was counted based on numbers instead of lives....

Heh, I was a friggin big fan in Asian Cultural Studies since high school (I fought hard to get into that AP class during Sophomore year and lived between the Asian Art shelves in the State University Library) and I'm working in a museum right now. And whenever I go to other countries the first thing I'd go is their bookstores to do impulse shopping with all of their traditional art collections books and all that.
So the inspiration comes in accumulated work.

This child watches anime with me and does the dancing for the Ranma opening themes and will sing the opening theme to Fairy Tail volume one in Japanese. I did not teach her this I just had her watch it. She's also the reason my Kiki's delivery service DVD is all screwed up. Over watching.
