Working background music: [link]Prothean Cycle Galaxy Map (version 0.5) <--- DO have this open when you read the background story, it'd help ease out the confusion
I'm sorry that this map portrays a galaxy after the Metacon War. The blue part on the left wasn't included in the Imperial Territory during the War.
BackgroundAbout 25000 years before Reapers' invasion to the Prothean Cycle, from Prothean Cycle year 25571 to 26283, a galactic war called the Metacon War was waged between the Prothean Empire and the Metacon, a synthetic race originated from an unknown technology.
The Metacon started the war against the Enduromi and the Densorin. After subjugated the Enduromi Territory, the Metacon pushed towards the Densorin Territory. And the war broken loose into Oravores territory and Prothean Imperial territory when the Metacon conquered the Garuda Empyrean.
The War went on for approximately 700 years. Both sides ended up countering each other with Planetary wars and Relay Defense tactics, the seemingly endless stalemate persisted for more than 500 years.
During the worst years of the war, the Metacon put the Helios System's sun into supernova, destroying the Prothean's ancient homesystem into nothingness. The Prothean rallied a united force called the Imperial Alliance, which was consisted of the Prothean, the Oravores, the Densorin, and the Enduromi. Despite all of the races were masters of warfare, their reliance in technology became their downfall in the long run.
At their distress, a group of Prothean Ascetic martial monks promoted the concept of developing their monk trainings and beliefs into a type of army which is extremely specialized in biotic combat techniques. This concept led to the birth of the earliest Archknights.
RanksNoviceChildren with an obvious talent in biotic power were sent to the Quasar Fortress as young as 3 years old in equivalent to human age. These children were called Novices. They recieved basic training in dealing with controlling their biotic power and discovering a way of wielding it.
ApprenticeAfter the six Trials for testing the Novices' biotic strength, mental stability, and physical tenacity, they would be eligible in attending the Seventh Trial, where they will be selected by an Archknight to become an Apprentice. During the selection process, the Archknight would test out the Noviceβs strength in person, and if the Novice could stand up to the challenge, the two individuals would end up exchanging each otherβs full name as an act of mutual bonding. An Archknight trains only one Apprentice at a time, taking the Apprentice with him on missions, which enabled the two individuals to form an intimate bond of trust, respect, and reliance.
ArchknightWhen an Apprentice has accomplished a creditable deed or war merit, he/she will be eligible to become an Archknight. During the Bestowment Ceremony, the Apprentice would embrace a Virtue among the 8 Virtues of War, and would be given a special biotic amplifier made in resemblance of a cold weapon which represents the Virtue bestowed upon him/her. Sometimes the weapon is simply passed down from an Archknight to his/her apprentice as a convenient way of granting knighthood. This happens frequently during situations such as in a battlefield, when an Archknight was facing his/her death.
ChivalryThe Chivalries are Archknights who have reached their age of retirement and are the leading/administering group of the Archknight Order. As most Archknights died in wars, there are only a handfull of indiviuals able to reach this position.
The 8 Virtues of War and their "Cold Weapons"Courage: Gauntlet
Prowess: Mace / War hammer
Justice: Sword / Katana
Rectitude: Flamberge / Claymore
Order: Scimitar / Sabre
Tactics: Bow / Double-bladed sword
Protection: Spear / Naginata
Vengeance: Shield
The 8 types of Archknights' role in combatCourage: Offensive / Support
Prowess: Offensive / Frontier / Crowd Control
Justice: Offensive / Frontier / Leadership
Rectitude: Offensive / Defensive / Support
Order: Offensive / Leadership / Crowd Control
Tactics: Offensive / Communication / Leadership
Protection: Defensive / Communication / Support
Vengeance: Offensive / Crowd Control
The Exemplar of VictoryThe Exemplar of Victory is a symbolic position who wields a Vexillum, this position was voted and credited by the Archknights and approved by the Chivalries.
Notable Archknight CodesArchknights are not allowed to make their own family, but they are allowed to develop a family-like relationship with fellow Archknights
Archknights are forbidden to produce offspring
Intimate relationship should be refrained at all cost as it risks mental instability
The Archknight Codes is the ultimate rule
Should the Chivalries or the Emperor/Empresses demanded the Archknight to defy the Code, the Archknight has the right to disobey
Stay true to the particular Virtue bestowed upon the Archknight
Notable "Cold Weapons"Acalanatha (Sword)
Dhrita-rastra (Sabre)
Mahamayuri (Spear)
Vajrapani (Shield)
-----------------------------------
To all who may concern: Vahana's Aegis Sanctum ability is EXCLUSIVE to Examplers of Protection. This means other Examplars/non-Archknights are unable to create a biotic dome as massive/sturdy as EoPs', because they simply don't have the skill or talent to do so.
I had this setting in my head before I've even created the comic, so yeah. Hang in there, we'll see more stuff coming along.
And Vahana being the expert in defense and supportive role, she actually kinda sucks at fighting.

This is really cool! I like how the Prothean's are expanded like this. There are just two things that I don't understand: What does "Frontier" mean? All the other roles are pretty self-explanatory. Does it mean "Scouting"? Second: What are "Cold Weapon's"? They seem really cool but I don't know what they are.

What does 'frontier' mean?

This is very cool but i am kinda confused. I thought Javik was the voice of vengeance and out of curiosity, i must have missed something but, when were Draeni/ Qunari a part of Mass Effect? Again very confused to that but amazing work

I don't know it Javik was the voice of vengeance in his cycle but in ours he would be because of all the people that were lost in his cycle and that he is the only one left. He also might have just been responding to Shepherd's question with that because he wanted her to understand what he would have to do for his people and due to the context that was the best way to do so.

because he wanted he or she to understand
but i see. I apologize my knowledge of the Protheans is limited and frankly im curious how anyone can know so much about them besides ME 3? See with the Forunners we at least have a book triliogy to explain them and Halo 4 being as vauge as can be but with the Protheans it seems we only have ME 3 so im confused as to how anyone can know more than whats gone over in ME 3

Well a lot of it is just a well formed hypothesis based on the books and ME3 as well as somethings from one and two. Other things are stated openly in the books and games but it takes a wile to fully understand them. Also some of it could be true or not and is fanfic for lack of a better way of putting it. I dont know anything for sure about Javik that was not stated in game. All I know for sure is that he said what he said and its up to us to try and understand it. As for the Prothens as a hole, little is known about them other than what was left behind and what we here from Javik and the VIs which all revolved around there war with the reapers for the most part. Whos to say that what they understood the Prothens to be was a direct result of the war and that it was vastly different be for the reapers invaded. Until we have a game or book that takes an indebted look into them we will never know for sure.

hmmmmm right i see..
so its a lot of speculation and then from books and then fan fic. I mean i know every ME book and none of them are purely on the Protheans so thats why i was confused
but its a nice concept really

Heh, this just reminded me of a story I was working on...The basis is kinda like the X-Men comics but the mutants are instead mages known as Mancers and each controls a specific element (I.E.: Fire, earth, water, air) or metaphysical principle (Time, life, death, light, darkness). They all wear a full shoulder-to-fingertip gauntlet which helps them focus and control their powers and allows them to summon to a sort of spirit weapon manifested by the mana/chi and is represented by colour (For example, the weapons of your Justice, Rectitude, and Order would be either earth (terramancy) or wood (dendromancy) due to the green colour, though earth would be a bit darker).
*ahem* sorry for the long-windedness, kinda get excited and carried away when getting back into something new.

So, the Shield was a weapon of Vengeance and offense for the Protheans?
π: 0 β©: 1
StellarStateLogic In reply to BlueDemonX [2012-07-01 14:44:19 +0000 UTC]
No. The "Shield" is just an appearance of the kind of biotic amplifier which the Exemplars of Vengeance used in their combat.
It's basically a kind of amplifier/weapon which magnifies their biotic power so they can do multiple burning damage to multiple targets.
Imagine Javik's Dark Channel ability being dosed onto every target on the field in one shot, that's what the Shield does.

BleachManiac38 In reply to victortky [2016-01-08 22:34:53 +0000 UTC]
I think it's Violet, or Indigo. Violet Lantern's are the Star Sapphire's and draw their power from "Love". While the Indigo Lantern's are The Indigo Tribe and draw their power from "Compassion". As it turn's out there is a whole "Emotional Spectrum" of Lantern Corps: (greenlantern.wikia.com/wiki/Em⦠). I don't know a whole lot about the Green Lantern series but I hope that this was helpful!

I dislike how the industry treats women with sexist views than practical combating assets of war.
There's even a joke about how the less armor a female character wears, the more defenses she actually gets. I actually think of it funny, but no, I like things to be practical and sexy at the same time. Women don't need to show cleavages to be sexy and beautiful.

That's right buddy, what i means with women with latex its not something thin and bitchy like pole dancers.
For example Kusanagi Motoko from GIT [link] She used kind of stealth fiber latex armor for infiltration mission. Body Armor Protection? yes, sexy? absolutely!
[link] One of my favorite. Or like this [link] or this [link] tell me who can resist dat ass?? most of my dream girl is dangerous than my self and that the other reason why i am fall in love with ME female main heroes personality. Much prefer Renegade than Paragon .

I know, it's just sometimes it's frustrating seeing women in bikini-style armor when the situation should be them wearing heavy plated stuffs. And all of your examples were good in terms of light armor or fabricated armor. They're practical, suitable for its situation and character status, and the fashion design spices up the femininity.
I absolutely love GIT, it's my all-time favorite.
