Description For comic reference just in case if I forgot the setting

I kinda drew in a way that only I understand... yeah.

These babes are all obsidian black with turquoise glows like those prothean memory stuffs we've seen in the game.

[ Penumbra Apex ]
Class: Apex Class Dreadnought
Total Length: 2500 m
Displacement Tonnage: 7,000,000 tons
Background Information
Penumbra Apex was the Flagship of Flarunium Realm and the symbol of its military triumph
It stayed within the Realm since creation and was never debuted in the Citadel Space
It became the Flagship of Flaruniss Fleet and realm governance during the Prothean Reaper War
It has an advanced built-in Stealth System and its armor was covered with a layer of semi-reflective material. The semi-reflective material was to prevent its massive size revealed from plain visual, and ended up giving it a blurred silhouette when seeing it against an imminent light source, thus fitting the name "Penumbra".
However, highly trained individuals could still sense its presence through their Clairvoyance ability.
Main Artillery
2 Buster Class mass accelerating pulse canons serves as the major heavy weapon at the front of the ship
1 Quasar Class mass accelerating particle cannon used in only certain conditions (it eats up 75% of the total power per round)
Quasar Class cannon's firepower was capable of decimating a stellar body about 2/3 the mass of the Earth (through means of penetrating the planet's core). It was the weapon used to trigger the Rachni's Sun into supernova, and was used only once during the Prothean Reaper War.
Headcanon:
Vahana was the Admiral of the Fleet, so she dwelt on this ship.
Teishen was appointed Admiral of Penumbra Apex by Vahana after she has been rescued from Vessala.

[ Halycon Eclipse ]
Class: Eclipse Class Battle-cruiser/Eclipse Class Carrier
Total Length: 900 m
Displacement Tonnage: 1,950,000 tons
# of ships at service: 65
Background Information
Eclipse Class Battle-cruisers were used for planetary offences before the Prothean Reaper War
The predecessors of these multi-purpose starships were first introduced during the Prothean Rachni War, they can be served as Battle-cruisers and Fighter Carriers depending on the customization.
The Eclipse Class was the 6th rendition of the original design and was installed with a lesser version of the Apex Class Dreadnought's artillery.
Naming Schemes
Battle-cruisers were named after honorable Archknights, Halycon was one of the legendary Knightmasters existed 20000 years ago who had helped the first Emperor to establish the Flarunium Realm.
Carriers were named after notable queens or female figures of the Prothean Empire.

[ Aphelion Beta ]
Class: Aphelion Class Destroyer, Beta Model
Total Length: 400 m
Displacement Tonnage: 85,000 tons
# of ships at service: 80
Background Information
Aphelion Class Destroyers were high-speed battleships designed to fit for inter-stellar mobilizations. They were able to fly at 20x FTL speed at cruise speed.
Naming Schemes
Destroyers were named after honorable soldiers/warriors of the Flarunium Realm. These names were called "Spirit-names", and were valued as a manifestation to the warrior seen as guardian spirits to the ships. Spirit-names were known only by the lineage of its Captains.
Headcanon:
Javik later became a Captain of one of these babes, his ship's Spirit-name was Keliks, a Sergeant Major who bravely defended his home planet against a race of hostile aliens.

I love how the design is both harsh and pointed at parts, but has curvature as well.

these are the ships I use for my prothean fanfictions

[link]

these are concepts for collector ships that were never fully realized

and I feel they fit veeeeeeeery well

you should look at discarded collector concept art . . . it is a good source of inspiration for this stuff

StellarStateLogic In reply to Motion-Music [2012-07-06 21:03:02 +0000 UTC]

I don't own Mass Effect art books, and those stuffs are hard to come by.

Honestly I'd prefer to seek other inspirations rather than sticking to what Bioware already have when I only have limited access to related resources. There's no fun at all when you're only reusing "discarded concept art" by Bioware. Besides, they can always use it in their official comics. What's the point of me using it in the first place if they're gonna use it?

Motion-Music In reply to StellarStateLogic [2012-07-06 21:12:57 +0000 UTC]

to keep them from using it XD

the whole reason we the ending cluster-fuck happened is because they dont want people guessing.

I still think these ships are better though, more distinct and fitting the prothean design aesthetic . . . their guns, pyramids, and buildings and all that . . .

I like to think of prothean things as having a bit of a . . . monolithic vibe, not necessarily in size . . . but without complexities . .

think . . . the smooth sides of the egyptian pyramid . .. big

and imposing

but it doenst need to rub it in your face by being fancy

I wrote fan fiction featuring prothean starships once . . .

I used the discarded concept art for the collector ships

I see. I don't own artbooks, so I wouldn't know.

But I do have something in mind of the origin of the collector base/ships.

I'm always amazed how well you can sketch the ships out. I'm sometimes really lazy on the details you know. Haha.
Wouldn't it be great if Sirona gets the chance working on the Penumbra Apex? It's so wonderful.
It would be also wonderful if she meets Vahana saying Moridin's famous sentence but I think she gets grilled alive by her as an consequence. Nah, Sirona don't has the guts to say it out loud. Forget it what I just have written here. xD

I haven't thought of who's gonna be in charge with the medical stuffs on the Apex, so it sounds cool. I guess we'd need a full-medical team though, it's a big ship and residence of many.

Perhaps she'll be hinting things in a more casual way, like some girl-talk, and was overheard by Vahana....

RabanusVanBirkenheid In reply to StellarStateLogic [2012-06-12 12:26:01 +0000 UTC]

You know that a fleet can provide a fine rumour mill, so it can't take very long to reach even the chatterbox's sleeping area.
That's what I thought if I get to explain how Sirona knows about Vahana's relationship with Alancier.
But I don't really know if there is really a fan-club swooning all over the Empress. xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StellarStateLogic In reply to RabanusVanBirkenheid [2012-06-12 12:32:23 +0000 UTC]

There should be some sort of fan club, an underground kind which its existence is pretty much a public secret.
I'd be imaging with the Empress' favorite kid and then suddenly twisted to an Oravores.... it'd be some big-time gossip.
As to how that was leaked.... well, there are always some ceiling cats here and there.

How Alancier was able to venture all the way from Garuda Empyrean to Exion Empyrean without using Mass Relays is something worth gossiping, his determination is worth gossiping, and the fact that he has a pairing Echo Shard with Vahana's is definitely worth big time gossiping.

Do you think that the female Protheans gossip more thant the male ones?
It would be such a clichΓ©! xD

StellarStateLogic In reply to RabanusVanBirkenheid [2012-06-12 12:40:10 +0000 UTC]

It depends on their positions, I guess. Honestly I haven't really think into the gender issues in Protheans. But I've known some heavy gossipers being guys, so yeah....

That liaison is approved by the Archknight Order and the Chivalries, too. Like Alancier's Echo Shard was actually a custom-made and awarded by the Chivalries as a trophy to the two's war merits. I have a small entry written down and I'll be posting it with a small diagram illustration later.

Awesome suace!

I read the description concerning the apex and immediately thought of Jokers one line "Because those organics would never try the no windows trick twice!" before going up to the Geth dreadnought XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StellarStateLogic In reply to Forward-Darkly [2012-05-14 04:32:57 +0000 UTC]

The Geth Dreadnought didn't bother to see things, the Penumbra Apex did everything to be unseen.
Javik said the main canon firepower are in equal (I'd take that he meant the 2 buster canons on PA, Quasar canons by definition is capable of 1 shooting a Reaper), so... let's put these 2 into a cannon-firing contest and we'll have a great gamble to go with.
