I think I'm still in that artist's block thing.But anyway.
I think Vahana never did get to wear this, but I wanted to draw something that's not about badass fighting nor soft fluffy romantic stuffs. So this is what I did.
Mind that looking at an Emperor/Empress in the face is punishable by death, this basically applies to anyone except the emperor/empress' blood relatives .
So they have these golden pearl veils to shade away their faces from people as well.
Swirly super intricate embroideries are for top-class prothean royalties only.
That friggin long name is Vahana's full name as an Empress. She doesn't use it unless she had to be addressed in political events.
Sitt'trij is "73rd" in prothean language
Ivrone means "white-colored" and can be interpreted as "immaculate" in prothean language
Quick Fact:
So Vahana's "formal/true" name as an adult would be 'Ivrone' (Vahana is actually her Milk Name/Childhood-name), but she preferred to be called and known as just "Vahana". And she actually disliked to be treated as a high-born.

Milk name is a tradition in Eastern culture, it is to prevent enemies from knowing the heir's name. It also protects evil spirits from taking away the child's soul by calling his/her true name. Having a formal/adult name was a BIG thing back then....

Fantastic work, I like the designs. Very cool expansion on the culture of Prothean.
Definitely see the Japanese style influences and I think the unwiedly headress for those "formal" occassions works perfectly, man how annoying would it be to wear that all the time?

I think they are. I meant when I look at your art, It makes me think of a more regal version of the Collectors. I can see how the reapers twisted them into the collectors. Not sure if this makes sense, but it supposed to be a compliment.

I love the design. I realized that almost everyone says that Javiks clothes remind them of red Samurai armor, but I see it more like armor if Africans were ever to develop them.

I think a lot of that comment came from a mentality of knowing BW said their design concept started from a Japanese-influenced style. I'm not so sure about the African part, though, because I'm not familiar with their art.

Not really their art, but I think the Prothean armor reminds me of the The Shields the Masai Tribe of Africa make.
... Which might actually explain why they also gave Javik an African accent.

I heard the accent should be Jamaican instead of African.
And I've looked up the shields in google... personally I don't see the resemblance. The artstyle and contours are completely different.

I meant more of the design than the shape of it. Though Javiks armor remind me of large leaves as cloths and Leaf skirts

I was actually wondering what was that texture on his armor and what kind of material was that based on. It reminded me of bamboo sleeping mattresses.
