Description
This did not come out exactly as I had planned in my own head. However, it's a closer approximation than some of the other drawings I've put up here.I can't remember drawing and coloring anything myself since grade school. Nothing fancy, just simple markers and crayons.
I did this to scale, like the "Will's Sword" ([link] ) sketch; except this represents a longer blade and a slightly different scale. Will's sword is 3' long, and has a scale 2" = 1'; this one has a scale where 1" = 6"
Verse is from the King James.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the final product. Here it is, though.

"A flaming sword which turned every way"
Sounds like a lightsaber!

Very nice job with the sword. Like that you added the bible verse as well.

Commenting while on brake:
Well, you do better non-living things than me. (I have great difficulty with straight lines)
I like how you did the flames. They definitely look intense.
.........nice hand writing.

Thank you.
I have a horrible time with living things, or detail, ha! Maybe because I want to get really really intricate on the details. That and I'm frustrated with my inability to make things come to life.
If I want something truly straight, I just grab a ruler. You know what's funny? When I was drawing this, I was using a ruler to draw the fuller on the inside of the blade. It took 2 tries, and I gave up trying to make it like what I had originally planned. Well, that wasn't the funny part ...
Okay, funny part #1: First attempt, I noticed the fuller, supposed to be in the center, was off-center. One side was 2mm away from the blade, the other was 1mm away. It was so obvious to me that it was bothering me to the point I had to measure.
Funny part #2: second attempt, I measured (instead of eyeballing) a spot in the center. I drew a line, using a ruler to make it straight. After removing the ruler, the line had a noticeable curve.
Like I said, details.
Thank you! I freehanded the flames. I sketched out and traced over with marker the sword itself (can you tell, though?) but just did the flames freehand. I thought for a moment about drawing a border for them first, but then decided not to.
Are you serious? Thank you. I look at it and think "okay, readable," but that's about it. I actually thought about doing something like calligraphy (it wouldn't technically be calligraphy, but I was thinking about something fancy anyway), but I decided not to. But, thank you.
You took time off of your break to comment? Why, thank you.
