Description
This was actually supposed to be a scene at night and this is just a edit of it, but nearly everyone that I asked said that this version here looks better so here is the original night version:I told you that there I'll be doing more in that style and here is more :3
Sorry for the long wait tho (still upload of the week tho, yasssssssss) I was working on 3 things at once this week and I had a lot of tests and I should be learning rn, but you know what? Screw it, I don't care what grade I get for the test tomorrow, finishing this was sooooooooo worth it ovo
All these tests were also the reason that I was so inactive this week and this will carry on for at least two more weaks because even more tests and crap like that ;w;
And the Collab with should be the next thing to come out, only have to dinish shading the last Fakémon, sorry that I'm taking so long ;w;
This is also the Mew out of one of the Doodle Dumps I made ^w^
Sketch of the Mew originally drawn here:
And the reference that I used for that: vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/p…
This Picture was made using PaintTool Sai
Pokémon and Mew belong to Nintendo , GameFreak and The Pokémon Company
Btw. I bought myself core membership, so I can finally do polls and request critique ovo

I love this picture! I really do envy your oilpainting-ish style. And the background, so pretty e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title="
(Big Grin)"/> Your pose looks really nice too, makes me wonder what mew is up to. The only things I can really critique on are the shadows and the placement of the paw pads on the feet. For the shadows, most of them are pretty spot on other than the one that is across the bell, and the back leg. I'm pretty sure that is from the tail. You did a great job of making it curve around the belly, and give the stomach some dimension. However, it looks a bit awkward, like a too sharp representation of the back legs shadow. Also, it took me a bit to figure out what it was, but good thinking to include it! The back legs shading looks a bit awkward also, mainly the inside of the leg. Dogs (And I'm assuming its the same for cats I just happen to have a dog to mess around with right now) stomachs cave in instead of... I dunno how to explain it, like it made a lip or something. It looks like one of those plastic figurines! (Which is a testament to how well you can draw in pokemon style, I stink at it) How they make the body and attach the legs! That's what it kinda looks like. I know I'm nitpicking here but I feel that's important. And for the paw pads on the feet (Again, I'm using a dog to check but I'm sure its the same for a cat) the paw pads are at the top of the feet, instead of across the length or in the middle. Other than those things, I love your attention to detail on this picture and sorry if I sounded too critical!

First of all: Thank you a lot for such a detailed critique and don't worry about being too critical or something along those lines, it helps me to improve when you point out what looks odd or bad ^w^
To the shadows: Yeah, you're right with that, I struggled long to get the shadows on the feet to look somewhat decent and I looked at other pictures of Mew and found nothing with a similar angle or light source so I had to trial and error which led to a kinda meh result :/
Same thing with the shadow of the tail, I've seen near to no artwork that does something like that and I thought of the light coming from the top right but that isn't working that good with the other shadows because it kinda looks like they're casted by a different lightsource now.
Shading is one of the things that I still need to improve at...
And one of the mistakes I made that someone pointed out when I was half finished with shading is that I should look at references of animals with similar anatomy, one of the things that I didn't do for this picture here, I only looked at pictures of Mew which resulted in the kinda unrealistic shading and anatomy :/
A thing I noticed tho is that the official art from Nintendo kinda switches around between different bodyforms and paw pad placement, like sometimes being more in the middle like and also with a small belly like here: vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/p…
and sometimes with these kinda attached looking legs and the paw pads being on the bottom of the paws like here:
www.gamepodunk.com/uploads/496…
I should've looked at pictures of cats and jaculus (I hope that this is the right translation for that animal, durrr) too because these are the two animals that Mew seems to be based on.
And thanks again for taking the time to write such a detailed critique and all the compliments I'll try to improve on the stuff you metioned in the future (even tho I think that the realistic shading kinda comes from experience and I don't have that... :/ ) ovo

This Mew looks really cute and adorable!Reminds me of the fan game Pokemon Insurgence.(If you haven't played it,I'd recommend it!)
The style is very unique, and the background makes the picture seem calming. In fact,I'm calm just looking at it!e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title="
(Smile)"/>
The choice of colours for the background also gives it a great effect. The shading is wonderful too.The picture also captures Mew's cheeky pose so well.I wonder what Mew is planning...
What I'd say about this is that maybe an outline would look great on it,to give it an extra effect. It doesn't have to be black,it can be purple or a darker shade of pink. And maybe taper those lines to improve it even more^-^
Other than that,I think this is splendid.Great job and keep it up!e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I used the standard Crayon brush in sai for the background so that it's not just flat, good to hear that it worked out ^^

I guess you're using Photoshop right?
I'd say that Sai is basically for the people that don't have the money for Photoshop XD
It misses a lot of the options that you have with Photoshop but it's still really good but I'd love to test out Photoshop, I might buy it soon because it has several features that I need that Sai doesn't deliver...

I do use Photoshop mostly, but I have a few other programs. I originally started out with Krita which is free and imo is just as good as photoshop if all you need to do is paint. It works really well with Wacom tablets and you can make your own brushes with a powerful brush tool. I honestly have considered going back to it. I have also used Black Ink, which is available through Steam, it's fun to use as the brushes are crazy. I haven't used it more than 20hrs though.

Oh, I guess Krita is like Sai then, because Sai is also basically enough when all you do is paint and it also has a powerfull brush editor.
I heard that it works well with Wacom tablets, too but I don't have one so I don't know XD
I have to try Krita, I just watched a video of it and to be honest, it looks way better than sai!

Krita is pretty awesome, I highly recommend it.
Honestly when I first started digitally painting with Krita all I used was a mouse, still got the job done above my expectations. My first digital painting I finished ever, done with Krita, with a mouse was this:

With only a mouse? Woah, that is amazing! owo
I played around with it a bit and it was confusing but well, I didn't watch any tutorials or stuff like that so that's to be expected XD
It has a ton of features that Sai doesn't have, I'll try to do some stuff with it and switch from sai to Krita, or at least do some editing to the stuff that I did in sai...
Sai is more comfortable to use tho... Dunno, I might end up using both programs XD
And thanks a lot for showing it to me, I didn't know that Krita was a thing before

I think this is actually very good!
It has good angle and shape, the shading is consistent and has an obvious light source!
The colours are also very good, I love the range you've used in the background especially.
The brightness makes the colours pastel-like, and I believe it gives the picture a very light-hearted and cheerful mood ♥
